Knight Rider

Can I have my hour back? I can only be happy that I didn’t tune in to the entire 2 hours… Was the original series that cheesy and, uh, wrong?

Yes

Can I have my hour back?

No

Bernie

It hasn’t come on here yet… And I still TOTALLY plan on watching it :stuck_out_tongue:

Ya, it starts in 8 minutes here. Im going to bed but recording it to watch the 2 hrs in just over an hour with commercial skips.

Aaaahhhh, couldn’t resist - watched the beginning on time-shift…my eyes, my ears… god, even my tongue…

The car is pretty cool, though. Even if it is a Ford…

Yeah, pretty dumb indeed. I made it through 39 minutes though.

I missed it.
Did they give Hasselhoff a cameo?

Not that I saw - but I turned it off, twice. My favorite was “624 miles, actually. At maximum speed, we could be there in 3hrs17mins…” Apparantly the new mustang does 190 miles an hour…LOL

I have alsways thought Knight Rider was dumb. When are they bringing The A-Team back?

Apparantly the new mustang does 190 miles an hour

And at 157 miles per gallon of standard gasoline!

Sadly, that little tidbit of information comes much later in the show. Sometimes this don’t quit anything you start stuff can be a bad thing.

I watched it. And it was wooden. And cheesy. Just like the original. (Cept w/out the Hoff…for the most part.)

Yet I will admit, I would watch a series, if they made one.

Hmmm… I would have thought it would have a Flux Capacitor… I mean, Marty had one of those in the Delorean years ago…

I particularly liked the scene on the bridge, where the car is following them, negotiating with the girl. “I cannot let you go on alone” Uh, news flash, Lightning: I just have to turn left and walk down that path… lol. But she gets back in, and even though the car was following her, you her the ignition fire up and the engine rev… no way that car gets 157 miles per gallon… are you sure it wasn’t 157 miles per 16 gallon tank??

the car had all the best lines.

Bailed out after 15 minutes…

Oh, so you missed the car’s ability to transform itself from a custom, bling affected, 19-inch wheel sporting black beast to a domestic, 16-inch wheel Barney-the-dinosaur purple unassuming buggy just by thinking about it.

I get the color shift - theoretically possible. But to transform 19-inch chrome rims to stock 16-incher, on the fly? Where’s the replicator, Captain - I need a cup of tea…Earl Grey, hot… LOL

I LOVED IT! Seriously, I admit it, I loved it! I loved the original and had a great time watching this one. But, you have to tivo it b/c it is only about 1:20 long and fills a 2 hour time slot.

Cannot wait for the A-Team movie!

Did everyone catch that the voice of KITT was Val Kilmer? Last minute substitution b/c GM got pissy b/c the original voice does ads for a competing car company.

Yep, The Hoff made an appearance as Michael Knight.

This was a little creepy: Michael Knight (the original, The Hoff), in the original series, had facial reconstructive surgery to look like Wilton Knight’s (the billionaire who created the foundation) dead son, Garth. Wilton Knight’s daughter is Jennifer Knight, who we met last night, who is the mother of Mike (the new driver). Mike (the new driver) is the son of Michael Knight (The Hoff). Which means, Jennifer Knight hooked up with Michael Knight, after he became Michael Knight (meaning he already had reconstructive surgery to look like her dead brother Garth). Ewww…

Seriously, I thought it was going to a shape shifting thing like “Viper” did back in the day. Honestly though, changing colors is pretty pathetic.

I was “ok” with the “movie”. (If you can call it that.) I think they would’ve done a lot better had they just gotten straight into action with the new Michael at the wheel. Devote 5-10minutes max on filling in the backstory with flashbacks or simple talking scenes. There was barely any action time and the driving wasn’t thrilling at all. Come on, an episode without the “Turbo Boost”? Boooo.

I’d love to have the show on the air, but its gotta be a whole lot more action and less talk. We know ppl dig the “fight for the little guy” type shows, “Equalizer”, “Pretender” etc. Have a likeable main character! We don’t need cheesy special FX. We just need ONE bad ass stunt driver. Is that so hard? Ramps, bridges, and big black semis. Come on!

and yes, I realize the originals were terrible. I loved them as a kid but re-watching them now is downright impossible.

Not sure I follow you, as I don’t think I saw a 16" wheel in the movie, Even when it went stocker Mustang GT I believe they were the optional 18’s you can get on the car, and I don’t know about you, but I have trouble telling the difference between 18" and 19" wheels in an action scene on TV (not that I’m defending the show at all).

What got me annoyed the garbage that they put on that car,I mean it’s a GT500 KR for Pete’s sake!!
Example …The hideous 2x stacked deck spoiler thay had on the rear of the car, and the equally hideous rear bumper, and front grill that were used all during the “go super fast mode”

As far as 190mph goes, if that car was a bit lighter than the factory ride, say a curb weight of 3300-3600 lbs, and with it’s factory 550hp at the crank motor, you could easily hit 190mph for some sustained distances, even with factory aerodynamics. When I lived in Vegas back in the late 80’s/early90’s their was a 1 gen Camaro that maintained over a 200mph average during the silver state classic from just outside of Vegas to some town in the Northern part of the state, and
I’m willing to bet you the drag coefficient on a 2008 Shelby Cobra GT500 KR is better than a 67-69 Camaro, even with some basic body mods for better down force.

When it went silver, it maintained the big shoes. There was a point, in front of the casino, where it transformed into purple, and the wheels weren’t flattering at all. I’ll concede that it’s hard to tell an 18" from a 19", but this wasn’t an action scene, and they weren’t big wheels…

The double deck spoiler “grew” when he put the hammer down… all the better for performance, of course… I know that the car could hit 190mph, just not average it over those roads…lol

I wonder how long before the hood with the lights is an after-market accessory sold by Ford…

Not by ford, but their already out on the market!!! I’m a big Cobra buff (have had 3 since they were released in 93), and I have seen the advertisements out on the web since the info on the GT00 KR KITT had been released a few months ago. Their all LED kits obviously, but you can’t see each individual light, like the original KITT. Thiers a cover on the setup that diffuses the light to look like one consistent glow
