i was told that i should wear a knee brace/strap to help correct my patella tracking along with some strength exercises. can anyone recommend one? i’ve read that the sleeve-type braces bunch up behind the knee…
I’ve had good success with a J-brace type knee brace while doing PT (mostly quad strengthening with hamstring stretching). The brace helped me to keep running while fixing the issue with PT

thanks. how was it with sweat? i feel like they will just become a soggy mess…
I found a lot of relief from some moderate knee cap pain which I suspected was due to patella mis-tracking by using kinesio tape like this:

I think the gentle “downward” pressure helped keep the patella in-line. It would easily last 3-4 days, including swimming and showering 1-2x daily.

They do bunch up behind the knee. Former J-brace wearer here. I might have made it a month with mine before I got sick and tired of coming home with big sweaty abrasions behind my knees. It turned out all I needed to do was foam roll my IT band and strengthen my glutes anyway.
Seems to me a much better idea to try to solve the underlying problem rather than wear something that manages the symptoms.
100% agree with using K tape.
So glad you asked this question. I can tell you this. that this strap does NOT work for the pattelofemoral issue (cartlidge irritated behind the knee cap).

it seems to be more for the tendonitis issue at the connection points. Anyway- tried it and it had no effect.
KT Tape may have helped a little, but not very much. I’m also in search of the right brace (and doing my PT exercises- strengthening my VOC).
It would be a sweaty mess and it would be warm but it never bothered me with chaffing or anything. The neoprene did a good job
McConnell taping works best for me. Simple to do & effective.
