Got a new KMC chain. But I can’t get the link to snap together no matter how hard I pull. I’m not as strong as I used to be, but I think I’m strong enough to install a chain - there must be a secret. The instructions that came with the chain say to use the KMC missing link tool - do I really need to buy that? Thanks
Engage the rear brake and turn the crank hard, the link should click in place.
Also position the link on the top i.e. heading towards the crank, not bottom/away.
That tool is your legs - jam on the pedals. SNAP - and you are set.

I tried that, the chain fell apart, jammed the rear derailleur and blew everything up. That sucked.
