I’ve got a vintage Klein Adroit Race mountain bike that I love. Happened to see some on Ebay recently and they seemed to have taken off in, at least, asking price.
Is there a real collectors desire for them? Anyone else have one and love it? Great quality, light all around and cool paint jobs he was known for
I’ve owned 2 Klein mtb’s over the years - Attitude hardtail, Mantra dual-suspension. Both are long gone. Would love to have the beautiful dark-iridescent green Attitude back, not so for the black Mantra. Though innovative in its day, it bobbed furiously, and I do not see why anybody would want to own it - even to hang on the wall (f-ugly…).
My sister has one, a Rascal maybe from 1990ish, that is great shape but is just a simple red paint job. I remember a friend having one of the dayglow crazy colored ones.
Regarding Klein and their wild paint, I seem to recall the company getting charged with dumping toxic chemicals and getting some pretty stiff fines. Not what you like to see from companies in the bike industry, especially in North America.
Correct, then left Washington and went to Trek. First year there their paint jobs looked good but did not last, then sold in just Japan and now gone. Still have a road bike
As to cool green Kleins - remember the one Jerry Seinfeld had hanging on the wall of his apartment (I think it actually belonged to Michael Richards)? Was that really Richards? One bit of Seinfeld trivia I DONT know. Thats cool.
Not sure about collectors items but my roommate in college (90-91)had a pink, white and green Attitude Team. He never rode it so it was essentially mine for a year. I beat the crap out of that thing. It was pretty pimp at the time.

I think the fact that it was “the Seinfeld bike” is what accounts for the high value. There are people out there who want one just to hang in their apartment (seriously). Otherwise nothing special.
