Alright, here’s something that I have noticed at work (nowhere else). People on instant message chats are now using kk instead of ok. Can anyone please explain this? k, I get. It’s one less letter. We’re lazy. kk? It’s the same as typing ok. So why change?
It comes from the gaming world. No surprise it leaked over. Years ago In remember thinking the same to myself but because of gaming I just joined fhe herd but I only use it there.
It’s laziness. kk is faster than ok. Used to see it a lot when I played games.
Being an on-line gamer for many years, I can vouch that this has been used for a long time, in lieu of OK…or shortened even further by just “k”. Saving micro seconds while you type/chat and play, it sometimes matters.
I think it’s creeped into normal chatting lingo.
I have found myself accidently using it in corprate setting in IM conversations and feel like an idiot effiminate tool for doing it.
