money no object I would go with the lighter one for the half second time savings =)
.
I chose the XR300s as an everyday wheel for my road bike (with DT 240s) because they are lighter, stiffer, and a little more aero. I think they are about the same price as the 1.2’s, so I don’t really see any reason to go for the 1.2’s. Based on your assessment, it appears that you agree.
I really like the wheels. They are stiff and light as advertised and they have stayed true for me (i weight 175 and I don’t baby them). I think I am running 24 spoke rear and 20 spoke front, with aerolites.
I just picked up a set of the RR 1.2’s with the aeroblade spokes and a SLC+ PT on the rear. I will get them when I get back from X-mas travel. The replace a pair of Askiums (which I used for 3 months and loved, and they replaced an OLD pair of Shimano WR550’s from 6 years ago). Must say I’m fairly excited to see how they feel and look on my Argon e-112. Also going to be using the Garmin 500. Nothing better than new stuff…
Wheelbuilder recommended the 1.2’s so I purchased a set but no field test yet. The two rims you mention are often compared with no slam dunk winner in my survey of the discussions.
