Kids Sports Goggles

My four year old starts soccer this fall and I need to get him some tinted sports goggles as his baby blues are very sensitive - so sensitive he never leaves the house without sunglasses.

Any suggestions?

You’re kidding, right? The bigger problem will be playing soccer in the bubble.

How about just standard sunglasses with a rubberized tie band or something to connect on the back? If he truly has a disease or some hypersensitivity to sunlight, this should work fine. He’s not going to be heading the ball or back flipping goal shots until he’s at least 5.

However, and please excuse any **unintentional **rudeness (I’m not willing to succumb to the classic ST attitude yet), but “sports goggles” for a 4-yr old? My god what is this world coming to. Paulo the F*CK up, and send him out there like every other kid. Every other parent will be laughing at YOU when they see your “semi-pro” 4-yr old wearing custom sport goggles.

No, actually I’m not kidding. Didn’t want to get into it, but he has a medical condition with one side effect being sensitivity to light so go F yourself.

As far as using regular sunglasses, I don’t think the league will allow it. From experience, they tend to break fairly easily.

And for the record, this post wasn’t about outfitting my kid in expensive sh*t - he needs to wear sunglasses b/c of a medical condition otherwise he can’t see.

Point taken. Remember - saying “My kid needs sports goggles” has different implications (especially on ST) than “My kid has a medical condition and needs sports goggles.”

I would never do this, but what about tinted swim googles? May look REALLY goofy but might actually work.

Welcome to ST- where you can leave your civility at the door. It’s apparently easier to be an asshole first, and then ask for foregiveness later (or not).

Have you tried a pediatric optometrist? I can’t imagine that it would be that hard to fit tinted non-prescription lenses into whatever frames they would normally have available for kids that need prescription glasses to play sports.
