Kickr People - Do you leave it plugged in

For all the people with Kickr/Kickr Core…

Do you leave it plugged in all the time? Any issues with that? It baffles me why these things don’t have an on/off switch

Hasn’t been unplugged for 18 months
.

Unplugged, mainly because mine is in the middle of the paincave and I am the type of idiot who would trip on the cord. No issues thus far.

When I had mine, I didn’t leave it on. I had it connected to a power strip that I turned on & off before and after every workout. Now that I have a Neo 2, I do the same.

Of course, right after I post this - Wahoo responds.

They said they recommend unplugging it when not in use. Which raises two questions for me

  1. Just from a wear standpoint, unplugging it over and over again seems bad.
  2. If that’s the case, why the F isn’t there just an on/off switch?

I think I’ll do what others have done and get a power strip for it and flip it off when I’m done.

I never unplug mine
.

Never un-plug it… been on for 4 years.

They’re probably going to say unplug it because if there’s a power surge in your area, things that are plugged in are subject to damage.

Unplugging Kickr Core every time I’m done, and re-calibrating before every use.

Why do you calibrate it every time?

I unplug it when I’m going to use the treadmill so my ant+ devices don’t see it
.

I should add that I do calibration in TR-only before every workout, and it only takes a couple of clicks and a few seconds.

Why? Habit I guess, always have done this with all my trainers in hopes of more consistency in numbers between workouts. Who knows if that does anything…

Gotcha. I Thought you meant the whole 3-5 minute thing in the Wahoo app.

I do the spindown each time as well. It’s just part of my warm up.

Mine is plugged into a surge protector with an on/off switch that I can easily flip with my toe. Fans are connected to the same, so I turn mine off when not in use.

I cannot remember the last time mine (Gen 1 2014) was unplugged. I don’t do spin downs since I use power meter control through PerfPro application. I will zero the power meter in the application and then start.
