I got a pair few months back after being introduced to them this summer. 2 x 16kgs/35lbs
Seen lots of good comments on them here and interested to know who else uses them and what sets do you do? Good site called artofstrength.com - (no relation!)
I do, and mix these with some other strength based work…
squats with both
swings
cleans
snatches
also do some alt leg ups wrapping towel round the kbl and it sits middle of shoulder blades only so I can do weighted step ups.
I do one and two arm swings. I can not do the snatch or cleans without banging my forearms badly. (I do not have a proper kettlebell - I have an adjustable model).
I like the kettlebell but do not finf it to be much better than a dumbbell for my purposes.
I just started doing kettle bells at my Y a couple weeks after IMFL. It’s a great workout. Just ask my abs and upper body this morning. They have a 30 min class that makes you break a sweat and works the whole body. I like it so much better than lifting weights which I do not do becuase I cannot stand it at all. hehe! The classes do a really good core-ab workout using the weight in front for crunches and then using the kettle bell behind us for leg raises. Finally something involving weights that I like.
There is an article on the internet about the “exercises” with a kettle bell that are good for a triahtlete. the Fitness director printed out specifically for me. here are the things the article recommended.
The remainder of each training session revolved around kettlebell training. The foundational movements apply to triathletes as they do for any athlete. Five main kettlebell exercises were used. A healthy dose of swings, cleans, snatches, renegade rows, and windmills were the focal point.
Just remember if doing a Turkish get up and the Kettlebell starts to go, let it. If you try to stop the motion you’ll end up with a mouth full of ‘chiclets’
