Hi Guys,
Just wanted to get some opinion on getting my first road bike; I am trying to decide between the Talon SL Road or the Evoke SL; I can get them both to fit so that is not an issue. I already have a tri bike so this will mainly be used for long rides during the winter/off season and perhaps be used to bike across America someday I might put clip on bars just because I like to chill in the bars sometimes. I will be doing most of the rides solo so I guess aerodynamic might trump being lighter? I think comfort is the top priority, but I don’t mind sacrificing a little of it to be faster. So I guess the question comes down to if they are both about equal in terms of comfort?
Any suggestion or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
i just posted a somewhat similar thread. my limited understanding of those two is that the Evoke is lighter and the Talon is more aero and can do double duty as a TT rig if you flip the seatpost. based on your post i’d think the talon would be better if you’re planning on tossing a set of clip-ons on it. not sure the Evoke geometry would work as well.
a shop in town just picked up kestrel so i’m looking forward to some test rides to see if i can feel any difference.
I bought the evoke last year and really enjoy the bike. The bike was the best deal for the money and has been a good road bike. I use this for early and late season rides or when I want to ride with a group of roadies. My vote - Evoke
Never rode an Evoke, but the Talon is my favorite road bike. It is very stable on high speed decents. I use it dual porpose for road/tri and have been faster on it than either my Cervelo or QR tri bikes.
I wound up with the Talon. Couldn’t ask for much more. Aero and does double duty. And it’s pretty.
