Any reviews/feedback on the Kestrel 4000? It gets some mention from time to time, but not much.

And of course the the 4000 was peppered into the recent Andy Potts wind tunnel stories.
I’m happy to give you a biased review if you are interested. Shoot me an email or give me a ring.

It will depend on your fit. If I recall correctly the 4000 is tall and narrower in the small sizes and longer and a bit low in the large sizes. I’m on an Airfoil pro and these are long and low in all sizes. Also the 4000 allows you to go a bit slacker if you want to, wherease with the Airfoil pro, I can’t even get the nose of the saddle 1 cm behind the BB. If you want to ride super steep, the Airfoil pro might be your option.

I’m 6’ 1" (33" inseam) and like to ride steep, 78-80 degrees. I ride a 55cm with the optional forward post which gets me into that vicinity. I raced and trained on one in 2010 and loved it. Very comfortable ride, and seemingly fast. Had some great bike splits last year, but hopefully at least some of that was due to improved fitness:) The cables are simply a dream to route. Internal runs are all guided. Brakes are a bit finicky to get set up, but once you figure out how to adjust them, and get them lined up, they work quite well. 55cm worked well for me as the reach wasn’t too long, and the stack wasn’t too aggressive. I have a reasonable amount of drop from my saddle to bars, but not a crazy amount. And I didn’t have to use a ton of spacers to achieve that position; I think maybe 15mm. Ride is comparable to the Guru Crono (carbon) I had previously, but presumably faster with all other things remaining the same. If you find that a frame size fits you, you won’t be disappointed.
