I am interested in buying a TT Karbona frame (the taiwan one); any experience with it?
Thanks
Marcial
I doubt there are many people who have purchased this frame directly from Karbona. They are typically an OE manufacturer for many other bike companies. Look at their frames, and you find similar ones with more popular names on them.
Given that, I sort of laugh at their whole R&D department “2nd to none” statement, because when I spoke with them at Interbike, they told me they use no computer aided design and no computer aided engineering or analysis tools - so while they could have a nice R&D department the old school carbon mfg. way, there ARE companies who utilize these tools. Simpy by virtue of having newer technology, I would categorize those who utilize computer technology as superior on the R&D side of things (and I know for a fact that Cervelo, Trek, Rocky Mountain Bicycles, and some others are FAR more advanced than old school carbon layup testing ![]()
Either way, they are highly regarded as a manufacturer over there, but I’d also have to worry about warranty issues and how they are handled by buying direct from Taiwan or China (if you are located there, then it probably isn’t an issue).
Get the Planet X version of the frame. A good company is as important as the frame itself. Planet X are top notch with great customer service. They have a real connection with the customers.

why just one when you can have ten?

Search Planet X (same frame) on ST or WW

B
C (Stevens Crono Carbon same frame)
The frame is produced by XDS CARBON- TECH (SHENZHEN) CO., LTD…
Do you have any experience buying from Asia this way? If these sellers are reputable, there are some good deals to be had (Zipp wheels, Edge wheels, etc). $560 for a set of 999’s makes you wonder.
Make that for a set of coounterfit 999 wheels probably. It it’s too good to be true it probably is. That price is less than wholesale in the US.
