So who’s run in them? Likes? Dislikes? Interested in hearing what you thought about the shoe as a whole.
?? I don’t know, but maybe you could ask Chris Lieto?
You got his number?
I was hoping for feedback from people not sponsored by the company
i’ve got about 150 miles in the K-Swiss Ultra Natural race (the first model, not the new one). Like them fine…they are light and low to the ground, but the wider sole in the mid and forefoot make them more stable than they look. Nice moisture control, but I have been getting blisters just behind my 1st met if they’re laced too tight.
As for durability, I’m a big guy (190lbs on a good day), so I don’t ususally expect too much out of a lightweight trainer, and these are no exception. I expect i’ll get about another 100 miles, if that before they become the ugliest pair of dog walking shoes this side of my crocs.
feel free to pm me if there’s anything i didn’t cover (if these are the shoes you care about…)
I have the Kona Womens Low and love them. They are light and not as ‘hot’ as my running shoes. But I’m only racing in them and maybe a few training runs. They do run small - but other then that two thumbs up from me.
Thanks…I’m about the same weight as you so I appreciate the feedback on the durability. I like lightweight trainers but tens to blow through them pretty quick.
I’m basically looking for feedback on the brand as a whole as well as individual shoes. I’ve been interested in trying them for a bit but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Ever since i’ve made the switch to k-swiss i have never been happier. not only do they look cool(Ive got the american flag K-ona) but they are one of the lightest most comforatable tri shoes on the market. It is a sockless shoe that has plenty of draining and you can run a marathon in them. No I am not sponsored by k-swiss yet but if Erik V is reading this he can PM me and we can work something out the shoes rock!! get them!
I have the K-Ona and the MISoul. Both seem like great shoes and I like the design and feel of them. Unfortunately neither of them fit me very well which limits my running in them to at most once a week and no more than 6 miles. I’m probably going to try on a pair of the women’s size to see if going a bit narrower will help as I tend to do better with very small toe boxes and shoes that are on the narrow side. If the narrower version of the K-Ona fixes my fit issues, it’s likely I won’t buy anything but them in the future.
I have a pair of the K-ONAs and have done 1 sprint and 1 1/2 Ironman in them. They are great shoes, I weigh just over 200 lbs and they have more cushion than the Zoots I raced in last year. I do wear socks in them but they still drain well. I will be racing in these for a good long while, and if they want to sponsor me I’m available for the 2009 season.
I have some K-Ona’s i got for free from a tri in Miaimi a month ago, and I love them.
I’m 6’1, 180-185, a swimmer and a (somewhat) over pronator. My first pair of non-cross-training running shoes was a failed experiement of Brooks motion control, that left my knee in throbbing pain for weeks, those were promptly replaced with a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspire 5. Those worked well for me.
I had no expectations with the K-Ona’s since they were free, but they’re by far better for me than the Mizuno’s. I’d highly reccomend trying them.
I prefer using my Natural Run as a tempo shoe only because they don’t have enough support for my longer runs or races. I like them so much that I almost use them as slippers since they are so comfy and can wear them without socks. Looking forward to trying their updated version which just got release, much better colors choices.
I just got my new K-Ona about 2 weeks ago and ran back to back 10 milers right out of the box with no problems. Feels like a lightweight trainer with tons of drainage and breathability. Definitely need to wear a sock since the inside is very scratchy and tends to rub my toes raw as my feet get sweaty or wet. Definitely my new race shoe for 70.3 distance this season.
My previous shoe was the Brooks Adrenaline 8 which has tons more support but feels much heavier compared to either Kswiss shoe. In the spirit of full disclosure I did get a pro deal with Kswiss as part of their K-Fast team for 2009.
Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like I’m gonna need to give these a try soon.
