Based on the thread title it out to be obvious that this thread will contain spoilers if you are not up to date with watching the show. And, what a show it is . Season 2 was great. Season 3 was not as good but was still absolutely worth watching. Season 4 is getting better and better in my opinion.
So, anyone want to discuss Justified so far this year? Who is Drew Thompson? Why is he so important or powerful that he is protected by so many?
I do not think it will end up being Sheriff Shelby as its just too obvious. I actually think its the imprisoned Sheriff who just murdered Arlo. Seems to fit that he could not make a deal and he is willing to go to supermax to silence Arlo.
I want to know why Raylon does not go back up into the hill country and ask his mother’s cousin some more questions though.
I think the real surprise is how they killed of Raylan’s Dad without much fanfare. All of a sudden Raylan got a call an hour ago??
Raylan visited his dad in the hospital. Had the talk and then Arlo said “Kiss my ass” at the very end. Seems a fitting way to end. Raylan already knew that Arlo didn’t really have a chance to survive as Art Mullen told Raylan they didn’t think Arlo would make it through the night.
Seems a fitting way to kill off Arlo. Especially the relationship Raylan had with him. Phone call is perfect.

Maybe, but given Arlo’s toughness I figured he’d live. The kiss my ass was fitting though.
Yeah it could be a red herring. Who else could it be? Has to be someone we know right? Don’t think they will bring in a new character. Seems it would be someone we already are familiar with just has a new history to them.
Using the same clues cited earlier in this thread -
*The big one is the conversation in “Outlaws” between Shelby (Jim Beaver) and Ellen May – his quote about pretending long enough until it isn’t pretending anymore seemed pretty on the nose as a confirmation. He also mentioned that his wife divorced him over two decades ago, which is right in the time frame of when Drew left his wife. *
There’s also the curiosity he expressed towards Raylan regarding Drew’s wife. Raylan remarked that he still didn’t quite trust Shelby (presumably because he thinks Shelby might still be in Boyd’s pocket), but Drew might be looking for his ex-wife for a number of reasons. He might be wanting to kill her, so that his new identity remains a secret, or he might want to avoid her for the same reason. He also might be wanting to get back with her; his memories of her attractiveness seemed apparent when he asked Raylan about her beauty (this one seems unlikely).
Then there’s the story he told from a few weeks back, when he told Raylan that he broke both of his legs in the past. He claimed it was an auto accident, but it certainly seems likely that it was a parachuting mishap instead.
It all makes sense, though some might criticize Justified’s writers for layering on the foreshadowing a little too thick (though I’ll admit, it took me two viewings of “Outlaws” to catch on). If this is the case, though, it brings to light some real questions about Shelby. For example, why did he allow himself to be put in Boyd’s pocket, if he’s such a major badass? And why has he waited until now to turn on his former co-conspirator’s son? http://www.tvrage.com/news/5288/has-justified-given-away-drew-thompson-s-identity
Shelby mentioned to Ellen May that if you pretend long enough until it isn’t pretending anymore.
Shelby’s wife divorced him over two decades ago, right around the time frame of when Drew left Eve Munro.
Shelby mentioned he heard Eve Munro was a looker.
Had the Marshals add to their list the Clover Hills guys that have been hanging out with Boyd.
Shelby told Raylan he broke both his legs in the past from an apparent auto accident. Sounds more like a parachuting accident if you ask me.
I would think it would be pretty easy for them to find out if the car accident was real as well as him shooting and killing the driver. Like when Boyd was checking people’s identity, looking for documentation before Drew dropped in, so to speak. As well as he doesn’t have the history or mixing with the richer element that the Hill people’s lady mentioned I could be wrong though
This season is based loosely off of an event called “Bluegrass Conspiracy” in the 1980s. Main character was Andrew Thornton (close to Drew Thompson huh?). Andrew was actually a police officer before getting into drug dealing.

But why would Raylan look into sheriff Shelby’s story when it sounds reasonable enough. Plus it happened a long time ago.
After thinking some more, the only new character that could be DT is Arnold. The guy that dressed like the bear and got shot by Ellen May. He doesn’t make 100% sense but more than the other new characters.
Colt served in the Army. He said the gun he carried was his “service revolver.” It was a 1911 in .45 caliber. But, assuming he was actually issued a pistol, which would be rare for an enlisted soldier, except for certain MOS’s, he would have been issued a Beretta M9 in 9mm, not a 1911 in .45.
Now, if he was in the Army during the original Desert Storm, circa 1991, he could have been issued a .45. Maybe. I qualified on a .45 back then. But, I do not think it was that long ago for Colt’s service.

David, I told you so. Sorry, just had to do it. lol
