Just saw Mike Plant died?

Just saw the news… from one FB pal.

“A sad Thursday…
I just heard the sad news this morning regarding the sudden passing of my friend Mike Plant and I send my deepest condolences to all his friends, co-workers and his loving family Cathy, Kendall & McKenna who he always raved about and was so proud to talk to me about”

He was a great guy. Very impressed on the times I met him. RIP

"Mike Plant was the guy we expected to outlive us all. He was an Iron Man, a lifelong athlete, a voracious writer, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, an incredible father. The list is endless. He lived his life with insatiable gusto and inspired others to do the same.
On May 5th, 2019, with his family by his side, Mike moved onto his next big adventure. He left us too soon and will be deeply missed, but he left his mark on the world in so many ways. Mike’s love for his family, work, friends, and passions will sustain his memory for years to come.
In honor of Mike, we’ve established this memorial fund for a cause that held such a huge piece of his heart: The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Mike was involved in the Foundation for over a decade, and served as Board President for the San Diego chapter. Mike himself lived with ulcerative colitis for over four decades, and his dedication to the Foundation came from a drive to improve the lives of others with IBD.
Donations to his memorial will help fund the critical research, disease education, and awareness efforts of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
You ran one hell of a race, Dad.

Horrible news. Such a legend.

Horrible news. Such a legend.

True. I heard he had multiple health issues. I’m sure Dan will write a story as they go way back and the CA tri culture all were tight. I hope some of the great old stories surface as we celebrate what they worked to hard to make flourish…an amazing sport.

FRAK! A big piece of our history is gone.
I had conversations with Mike during the early '90s while I was at Tri-Fed, usually regarding officiating and calls.
Sad…

RIP Mike ! Condolences to family, friends & triathlon world. Met him at Bud Light series in late 80’s.

RIP Mr Plant. Glad to have met him at TBI a couple of years back, he was considering coming to CT to announce
our race, that would have been a treat. Condolences to the family.
