yaw!
just doing my survey thingy: i have a big race this weekend (1st 1/2IM) that i’ve been training for since february and a previous knee injury is haunting me again. bad timing, you bet … so, i’ve been on ibuprofen for the last week or so to relieve this excruciating knee pain (could be PFS, w/e…). result: nada so far… could anyone share what they do (potent NSAIDs, etc)? i am looking for ** smth temporary, for the sake of this race **. i’ll take care of the rest next week…
feel free to pm me w/ suggestions…
thanks for any tips/advice

ps: i’d rather not think about plan B (calling it quit…)
If you normally respond to ibuprofen (assuming you took up to 800mg at a time/dose) and it isn’t working this time, you won’t get any benefit from Naproxen (Alleve) either since they are in the same class.
If you think you have PFS, and are going to run no matter what, seeing a specialist (for a possible corticosteroid injection) maybe your best bet.
You can safely take ibuprofen and Tylenol 1 together since these operate on different pathways. Of course T1s will not reduce inflammation, but codeine kills pain better than anything else you can get without a prescription. As with any NSAIDs, be damn sure you stay properly hydrated. Best of luck to you.

Please do not listen to this advice if you wish to keep your kidneys healthy…unless you like the idea of necrosing off your renal papilla

You might want to Google that bit in bold before you make your final decision…
