Just a one word answer is good: will a GXP bottom bracket tool work on a Shimano BB (or vice-versa)

when I google, i get three pages of videos, links to sellers, etc. gave up thinking this would be faster.

  1. assuming you are talking about threaded bottom brackets.
  2. assuming you are talking about the SRAM made bottom bracket and the Shimano made bottom bracket (e.g. not made by wheels manufacturing or someone else)
  3. assuming that the shimano BB is a prior model. To be clear, assuming the Shimano BB is NOT a recent one (aka. not 9000 /9100 series). The newer Shimano bottom brackets moved to a smaller cup size (The newer cups are of a smaller size)

Then Yes.

SRAM GXP BB and old shimano BB-> 16 notch 44mm
New Shimano BB → 16 notch 39mm

Awesome. When I was looking for this info, I was also multitasking - on hold with my internet provider’s Helpdesk to troubleshoot connection problems - and between these two hells, I thought I could feel myself dying.

I’ve experienced this same exact 2-for-1 hell scenario. I’m sorry for your time lost. Dare you share how many hours you’ve spent on those two projects? Can you even bring yourself to think about it?
