Joe Rogan: Then and Now

By, “smear campaign” are we still just talking about CNN referring to Rogan’s human use ivermectin as a horse dewormer because that’s what the drug was primarily used for?

Can you share the details and evidence about this?

Yes.

And if you don’t understand how claiming that someone was taking “horse medication” when he wasn’t taking horse medication is a deliberate smear, then there’s nothing more to discuss.

It wasn’t like it was kinda mentioned in the piece. The whole point of the piece was to deliberately mislead people into thinking that Rogan was taking a medication that was meant for horses and NOT meant for humans.

The only problem I had with Joe and his ivermectin is that he touted it as legitimate in keeping his covid from getting bad, when the reality was that he got better in a handful of days like 99% of everyone who got covid. And with an audience reach that he has, that was irresponsible.

On that point, I agree with you 100%.

Not only that, they used filters over his video to make him appear more sickly.

It was so weird. The whole thing started because Rogan posted what should have been a very innocuous short video explaining he got COVID, what he was doing to treat it etc. He mentioned he was taking a whole bunch of things.

CNN et Al took the ivermectin thing and blew it up, and other news orgs made entirely fictitious stories about gun shot victims being denied care in ER rooms because the hospital was overwhelmed with people being treated for taking veterinary ivermectin.

You want to talk about a misinformation firestorm, you don’t have to look much further than that.

From what I remember, he never really singled out ivermectin as a miracle cure. He said in his original video he took a bunch of shit like monoclonal antibodies, vitamin IV drips, and ivermectin. It was CNN et al that singled out and blew up the ivermectin thing.

After that he certainly went on to defend ivermectin, mainly because his use of it was grossly mischaracterized in the media.

He was taking a medication with an active ingredient primarily used as a horse dewormer. Let’s not forget that farm supply stores were being stripped of the horse version of the product.

I’m not really interested in rehashing this 3 years later. If the distinction between “promoting horse dewormer” and “promoting a medication primarily used as a horse dewormer” rises to your definition of a smear campaign, we just have different definitions of a smear campaign.

Thom, anyone with half a brain knows that the intent of that story was to lead people to believe that he was taking veterinary medicine meant for horses and NOT a doctor prescribed human medication.

Again, it’s not like they happened to mention it as an aside. It was the whole point of the story they ran.

And it’s CNN. It’s not like we’re nitpicking some post that someone fired off in the LR during their lunch break and they were a bit sloppy with their words.

And you’re like, “I’m so confused. I don’t understand why Joe Rogan would be upset after CNN told the world that he’s taking horse dewormer while rolling their eyes as they say it. I mean, technically blabity blah blah blah.”

Anybody that disagrees with you must be stupid? Have you been taking discourse lessons from Windy?

If you need me I’ll be in the corner with my half brain playing tic tac toe with my dog.

I remember Joe Rogan as the host of Fear Factor, which I would sometimes watch 20+ years ago, and I haven’t paid any attention to him since.

Don’t say stupid crap and you won’t have to worry about it.

He was taking a medication that has been prescribed safely in nearly 4 billion doses, to humans, since 1987 as an antiviral drug.

Why didn’t CNN focus on that, instead of repeatedly driving home the lie he was taking horse dewormer?

Because it doesn’t sell fear

And ultimately it doesn’t matter if they technically didn’t “smear” him because technically its “primarily used in horses.”

Was it something that they should have known was going to piss him off? Yes.

Did pissing him off help Trump narrowly win the election? Yes.

Where did you find this particular info? Link? On which human viruses was it an effective drug?

And when he took the human ivermectin, was there any evidence that this drug was at all effective in treating the covid virus?

The internet. The first source is from the NIH. You can also look at the wiki page for it.

And when he took the human ivermectin, was there any evidence that this drug was at all effective in treating the covid virus?

You are changing the subject. The beginning of this subthread was about CNN smearing Joe Rogan by running a story that he was taking horse dewormer.

Whether or not Ivermectin is effective against Covid is irrelevant to this discussion. Had CNN simply run a story stating that one of the drugs he was taking was not effective, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Exactly. I’m not saying him taking Ivermectin cured his covid. It probably did nothing. Even Rogan has stated he has no clue if it had any effect.

Yeah, l wasn’t making a point, l was just asking to try to understand why Rogan decided to take ivermectin.

Against what human viruses is ivermectin known to be effective?

No, he was not, as this is totally and completely false. The drug does not treat any viruses at all. For humans or for horses.

I am really puzzled where you got this info.
