Thinking of trading in my P3 for a Javelin…possibly the Asti…so ST experts…what say you?
Not sure I’d trade a P3 for a Asti, but certainly for a Barolo. Javelin frames kick serious ass…perhaps the next “Cervelo” to break through to mainstream, although I believe Scott’s tenure is a bit longer. I do know that the Arcole is a seriously stiff (perhaps too stiff for IM) TT bike.
Don’t know about the Asti, but my next road bike is probably an Assisi…
Plasma is a SERIOUS option, I just dont like the P3
.
I dunno…you seem like a 496 type of guy. (That’s a compliment, btw)
Look…mmmmmmmmmmm pure bike lust and soul.
The Arcole is a fast bike as well
.
Gary - why that over a P3…and to complicate things…over an Elite (we are talking Alumiunm here)
.
I ride a P3 now specifically for weight, aerodynamics and forward agressive position.
Aluminum is nice, I ride it as well, but specifically look for a good match geometry wise
P3 is lighter? Hell, I think it is heavy! What does the Javelin weigh?
Never ridden an Asti but the geomtry is great and classy bike … i have been on a custom Aero Jav (still my favorite) / Arcole / and Barolo … have not spent much time on the barolo but it is a slightly smoother bike than the Arcole even though both are built off the same geometry. Barolo has the Carboin in the rear and deeper aero down tube.
If you are going long the Barolo seems a bit more forgiving but incredibly responsive in moving your power in the right direction (forward) … i love the “stealthness” of the Arcole and it is a quick bike as well.
The P3C I ride weighs 16.9 lbs with my TT climbing wheels, about 1 lb more with the zipps, the Arcole is heavier.
Record, how come you don’t like your p3? can you say that on this forum and live? haha.
I’m really sorry to hear about the cincy training weekend not working out. I was out riding when that hailstorm hit! Fortunately I was able to pull off the road and there was a public restroom at a park where I hid out. I got so bored I started doing wall sits!
Make sure to post your bib number for disney so we can track you.
That was a damn mess - I have never seen anything like that storm before. I was lucky and my I was able to get into a parking garage pretty quick before the hail got really big. Stayed at a hotel there and just came home Sat AM…figured god did not want me in Cincy…
Not sure I want my number for Disney out there after my run today. I am betting for a finish sub 17 hours for the half.
For the Cervelo - just something about it…not sure, not at all. Cant get dialed in, I need to post some new photos to see what folks think I should do…maybe just get a Plasma or a P3C, possibly an Elite or Blade…leaning to an Elite a bit but that goes from Alu to Alu as oppsed to Carbon or Ti.
record,
just to crowd the playing field-- have you thought about a guru crono?

I have the asti for ayear now and really love the bike, It is stiff enough(215 lbs.) for me and the ride is very nice.
Be different.
I’m riding a Klein road frame, sized 2 sizes too small. A bit nervous handling perhaps, but fine once up to speed. The low BB helps in this regard. The smaller sizes have a steeper seat tube as well, so the position is pretty good. Right now I’ve got a straight post on there, but I may go for a reversed thomson setback post or Bontrager post.
Great paint job, and beautiful, big fat round tubes. The way they are supposed to be. Do the aero tubes really make a difference after you throw on two bottle cages?
Love my Arcole…absoluetly no plans on switching it out for something else. No complaints period.
Get the Elite, I know you want one. Plus it’ll be half carbon if you get the razor carbon.
I second the Elite reccomendation. My razor is a thing of beauty and fast as hell. The customer service from Dave and the gang is phenomenal and having free support at M-dot races is one less thing to worry about come race week.
And they can put Campy on it for you too.
I haven’t seen a razor Carbon yet, but the Joule pro I saw a few weeks ago at the shop looked sharp.
Chip,
I’m riding the Narni and I love it!! Great bike from a great company.
After my accident last year, they found out about my Team Javelin jersey being cut off in the hospital, from ST. About six weeks ater they sent me a full ttrisuit and a get well card.
My bike was destroyed in the accident, so I was looking for a new bike. I bought the narni and love it!!! I also picked up a Parma for a beater bike and love it too!
Great bikes from a great company that took the extra step. My LBS and I agreed that they gave the best support of any bike company either of us had dealt with. That’s pretty strong!
