ITU World Triathlon Championship Series 2025 General Chat

I just sent an email to the communications team at World Triathlon. Suggest we all do the same, maybe they will act on it???

Thanks, that is actually the only way to get there it seems.

That is massive progress. 5 weeks or so ago one could not even sent them a email lol

Appreciate the idea, but what do we tell them? To admit that they wasted a shitload of money on the new website design? Sooner will hell freeze over than a bureaucrat say “yep, that’s true, we need to go back to the old one”…

First race is creeping up nicely, only a month to go!

It’s wild, they have an actual quick link hyperlink, that doesn’t actual go directly to the quick links your looking for (start list, athlete profiles, etc)…Each hyperlink actuaally takes you to the same link. Makes no sense.

It just seems like it takes 3 clicks more to find anything you are looking for, and figuring out where the races are just seems over complicated.

Replying to thread…as soon as they changed the site, I asked about the fact that non of the prior years VOD was no longer available…got an e-mail a couple weeks ago from them, about the new website…basically stated it’ll be a work in process for a while…so who knows?

What I don’t get is the old website is still working
IE if you go to etu or atu side and click on results it brings you to the old world Tri site .
So why don’t they keep the old side until the new one is actually working ?

Ah I get that. But beyond the actual hyperlinks not working. If you go to a race page and click on results. You have to double click each race category now to get the results, in the old page, you did 1 click and it opened up. Maybe that also gets cleaned up, it just seems way “busier” (looks more flashier and hip though so there is that plus).

Maya Kingma (Instagram) and Georgia Taylor Brown (Strava) are both in Majorca on the EF Education-Oatly pre-season camp… is this a preview of where their 2025 focus will be?

What is the ef education camp?

Women’s World Tour bike team training camp…

Maya Kingman is waiting to hear if she is on funding for the next Olympic cycle so I can see her keeping her options open.

Out of the 4 Olympians for Holland only 1 of them has met the criteria for funding. The other 3 have to wait and see.

That was hilarious - I vaguely remembered the World Tour team name, but just for a split second wondered if the women were taking algebra class!

Not sure where you get that info from. True that there is something with the funding. But, it’s already decided. Kingma was actually the best performing Dutch triathlete. But there’s only going to be funding for the Dutch relay in the coming cycle, as was published by the Dutch Olympic Committee

Article from a Dutch cycling website with some quotes from the EF team manager Nederlandse toptriatlete Maya Kingma duikt op bij EF-Oatly | WielerFlits

certainly Maya would be on that relay with her skillset. Cannot read your article, can you give us the bullet points and if she has gotten that funding??

This article is about the funding for each sport https://www.nu.nl/sport-overig/6337267/meer-geld-voor-atletiek-en-roeien-na-successen-in-parijs-triatlon-teleurgesteld.html

For triathlon they only see changes for the relay, quote: “Bij triatlon zien we alleen kansen op de teamrelay. Dat wordt nog wel gefinancierd.”

Basically, less funding in general and what money there is, is only for relay races etc. and only possible to get a stipend through results with the relay.

Well Maya is probably one to the top 10 in the world for womens relay legs, so unless they are just daft, she should be top of the list for relay funding…She has even gotten her sprint run down to where she would be just a smidge down from someone like Knibb, who I consider the best relay woman in the world…

I understand your point. But the funding is so low, that without a stipend it’s not possible to live of the sport, especially since only the travel to relay races will be covered.

Long story short, not a lot of money in dutch Olympic triathlon, so it is understandable that she explores other options. This article I previously mentioned (Google Translate is necessary) the team manager talks about Kingma’s participation in this camp.
