ITU World Triathlon Championship Series 2025 General Chat

I seen someone had already done a thread discussing this, but thought this would be a good way to kick off the new thread for next year…

So, no Sian Rainsley, but Coldwell is retained (debatable if she ever intended racing ITU again)

Can remember someone brave enough to bring this issue up a while ago, seeing Holland come back after pregnancy and get that result was one of the highlights for me this year.

Hope Sian gets added back in later.
Doubt Sophie will ever race short course again, think they had no option but to retain her under the pregnancy clause
Can’t blame her for taking advantage of it, but it does take spots away from young developing athletes. So it’s a difficult one, not really sure of the wisdom of it, athletes don’t normally return to triathlon from childbirth not to the Olympics anyway.

The race calendar really scares me with what is actually happening with hosting responsibilities and cities willing to host(IE pay the very large fees these days). 2 races in May/June/July/August really is troubling imo. There’s a 3 month and 2 month break between races and then the final 3 races are within 30 days of each other.

Yep, if you was Coldwell you’d have done the same, how does it work, is she under no obligation to do any races in the future?

Whats the reasoning behind this?

Reasoning behind the race calendar setup or my fears/worries?

I think it’s clear the WTCS is losing out on host cities or countries it can count on. GB and CAN now are going into 3rd year not hosting a race. I believe the KV race in Sept has always been that time line of a race while it’s been a world cup. So they just kept the same race weekend just moved up in stature. There were “rumors” that Hamburg was going off, but that one and Yoko really are almost bankable to count on. Abu Dhabi seems to be in the bankable category as well as it’s now what 10 years running and not really that many issues beyond the ugly episode last year where they just outright cancelled the event. The 2 Sept courses I think are actually exciting. I just think the schedule timeline makes very little sense. I think it just shows how little ITU actually has in the control dept and they basically have to do whatever they can do now to get races.

I’m slightly curious why AD is 1 month earlier than it has hever started. Fear of cancellation from last year? Just makes for a weird off season / early build to then go into a 3 month holding pattern.

Maybe she is. But Jess didn’t actually race any beyond her pregnancy. She did enter at least one , but then got injured.

Yes it is troubling
ITU making it very expensive to hold a race.

Anyone know why London can’t be a host again? I thought it got moved to Leeds for Brownlee purposes on a temp basis was my memory.

Going to be tricky for supertri to dovetail their ?4 races in that September/October window.

Anyone know anything about that Wollongong course?

We need to put the ITU calendar beside the t100 calendar and supertri. This extended, spread out season may also be due to knowing some top contenders wanted to race all.

The supertri dates have not been published sfaik except for 5 October in Toulouse
The direct clashes between WTCS and T100 are Frejus and Yokohama (mid May), and Ibiza and China (end September, China day of month assumed). And effectively Wollongong and Las Vegas in mid October. Though there has been chat that LLV might have been moved ‘months’ and that that it’s back set in October (PTO site says “2025”!)
World Triathlon will not give a tuppenny F for whatever dates the T100 Tour chooses. And supertri will determine their weekends based on the WTCS calendar and not directly clash. The lack of a date for China must be a pita.

“old dude yelling to get off my lawn”

The new WT website…eeeek you have to double click on any race site’s to get the actual results. Finding events seems even more complicated.

Find the new website a mess.
Not sure it even has the functionality of the old one.
Just bubbles!

Just had a quick look round, hopefully its one of them you just need to get used to using.

For the life of me I can’t find a quick “Results” tab that used to be there in the old format.

Great! My work laptop is blocking me from using parts of this new re vamped ITU site (never used to) its a thumbs down from me :-1:

You now have to go to ‘Event’ and ‘Event search’. If a past event, you will have a link to results. Otherwise you’ll have a link to start lists.
