Hey guys, so even considering the funky bike route I’m thinking it might be a good idea to sign up for this race. Have a half in May, then it would be Olympic in June, then Full in August…so not a very traditional schedule by any means. Anyhow outside of the distance being strange to fit into my “racing” (ie participating) schedule any good reasons not to do this event? It’s in my backyard so outside of registration ($150) it would be low cost.
I know it’s a highly personal question, and a bit broad but am generally just looking for any thoughts pro or con.
My Wife and I registered several months ago and we are looking forward to racing this one… I will be wearing Sunglasses that do not have a lot of tint!!!
Looks like a lot of us are doing it. I was fully intending to race the oly distance. I’m flying 2000 miles so it better be worth my time, and well it is ITU. Gotta do the oly distance. But then I saw the race schedule. Oly starts at 6 AM. Sprint starts at 11:30. So I signed up for sprint. Heh.
After seeing the separation of the 6A start of the Oly and the 11:30 start of the sprint, I’m tempted to do both…already signed up for Oly. Going to have to wait until waves are posted and hope the race doesn’t sell out by then to see if the timing works.
I’ve done the Chicago Triple (Super Sprint on Sat, Sprint 1st thing Sunday, followed by Oly later Sunday AM) twice before so it’s not a total stretch to think it would be possible…even tho I’m a few years older now.
I’m doing it and judging by another thread on here a lot of STers are doing it. I just ran the bike course today and I’m shocked as to how good the streets are (compared to the rest of the city and how severe the winter was). Should be a fun event.
