This is a one-year-old Magnesium stem, touted as the lightest in the world. It’s in great condition. Size is 110. Brand new this stem is $250; I am asking $125 and you pay shipping. Contact 419-993-2090 or gsowinski@limanews.com
I’ve heard a lot of people freaked out to use that stem due to a reputation of breakage. Anyone else heard this?
btw–even the folks over at weightweenies.starbike.com wont use it, and these are guys that drill holes in their chain rings to lighten them up.

We sold, like, three of them including one to a friend of mine named Ell Bruley who was second overall at IM Montreal a few years ago. We didn’t have any problems with them. You do want to be certain you follow the torque and installation instructions packaged with the stem to the letter.
Dude, you could get a lot more than $125 on E-Bay- it is the place where people compete to pay too much for stuff we don’t want anymore. A collection of out-dated bike stuff sold on E-Bay paid for my new roof!
Those babies are breaking all over town. Sell yours now while you can!
Actually, I put mine in the trash since, if I sold it to someone and it broke, I’d get sued. So, I just ate the cost and tossed it out.
I personally (either on-line or in real-life) know of 5 of those that have broken (2 adjustable, 3 regular).
If you own one, throw it away or return it. Do NOT sell it to someone else.

Tom … dude … our friend … very smart guy…
*Nobody *owns a low-gauge torque wrench. A piece of bike equipment sold to mass-market users should not be so sensitive to the use of a tool that nobody owns; it needs to have some headroom in the design for installation error. We should be able to just clamp it on there and go and not have to worry about it.
Superlight stems are just plain stupid.
i owned one of these stems and it broke where the bolts tighten to the steerer tube. I have no torque wrench for allen bolts. I may have overtightened it, but I just don’t know. It scared me big time when I saw it.
After chasing after ITM for about two months, they finally replaced it. I don’t try to save weight on exotic stems any more.

I’m aware of four that broke like that (incl. yours) and an adjustable that broke in front of the stem.
There is too little material around the stem clamp. They have just milled that thing down too far.
