What has happened to Xterra wetsuits? I don’t see any dealers for them. I have been trying all summer to contact them and not one person has picked up the phone, returned a call, or responded to an e-mail. Are they still in business?
I like the Xterra suits. I just want to know if they are still going to sell anymore.
XTERRA WETSUITS recently moved from Richmond, Virginia (my hometown) to San Diego, California. (I have been sharing an office in the original Triathlon Magazine/Active.com building for the past 4 years. It was time to move our warehouse!!!)
We have a new address and phone number.
Phone: 858-565-9500
7875 Convoy Ct., Suite 6
San Diego, California 92111
You may reach me (founder/owner/chief wetsuit designer) directly via email at keith@xterrawetsuits.com or at ext. 101 on our main number.
We still have plenty of great retail stores carrying our product. The only change is that we are a bit more selective on the dealers that we choose to represent our brand.
*******We have recently begun to promote our direct to triathlete program at www.xterrawetsuitspro.com
All suit purchases from our online site are backed by a 2 week money back guarantee. You can’t go wrong with a test swim !!! You can swim in comfort knowing that you purchased your triathlon wetsuit by a USA owned and operated business. (a large percentage of triathlon wetsuit companies are foreign owned with US distributors… orca, 2xu, blue seventy/ironman, aquaman etc., etc.) Please support your local USA brand !!!
Thanks for your patience during our move. We are quickly returning all calls and emails which were missed during our transition across the country.
All of XTERRA WETUITS research, design, marketing, and distribution is done here in the USA. A great deal of the testing is done locally at the La Jolla Cove in San Diego.
In fact, a large percentage of our local pros live and train near our new office. Paula Newby-Fraser, Heather Fuhr, Paul Huddle, Roch Frey, and Jessi Stensland are used on a regular basis for our fitting patterns and suggestions on how to improve our product. Other pros that provide design input are Peter Reid, Lori Bowden, and our European Distributor Jan Sibberson. (Jan has swam 42:17 for the Ironman distance in our Vector Pro2 Fullsuit). We strive on updating and improving our products on a regular basis.
Our suits are manufactured off shore for a variety of reasons. The main reason is that all triathlon neoprene sheets are manufactured in Asia. There are no USA companies producing these specific materials for our specific use. We find it more efficient to finish the goods in the same vicinity as where the rubber is produced.
Our industry has only (3) USA based triathlon wetsuit companies. (Desoto, QR, and XTERRA WETSUITS). Desoto and XTERRA WETSUITS are the only two brands which are privately owned by Triatletes. (QR is held by a Venture Capitalist group).
We still have plenty of great retail stores carrying our product. The only change is that we are a bit more selective on the dealers that we choose to represent our brand.

With all due respect (and a lot is due from me evidenced by my owning two of your suits), I asked the same question a few months ago. I asked because you were no longer at TriSports or All3Sports, or some others. I cannot comment on your decision or reasoning (because I don’t know it). But, I hope you realize that your visibility has gone waaaayyyy down. I looked at the top-10 dealers you listed on that Triathlete ad you referred me to when I initially posted. I had never heard of most of them - wasn’t one in Maine?
It’s true that we don’t sell in as many triathlon specific stores as we did say 2 years ago. From a branding perspective our visibility has actually increased in the past few years.
We are sponsoring more triathlon events, clubs, athletes, etc. etc. than we have in previous years. Our marketshare is stronger in some regions than others. As an example, go to a San Diego or Los Angeles area triathlon event. The XTERRA WETSUITS brand is everywhere and on everyone. (try a San Diego Triathlon Club group swim at the La Jolla Cove)
Please don’t get me wrong. We love Triathlon specific retail shops. My background is retail. (I’m the founder and original owner of Inside Out Sports one of the largest triathlon specifics stores in the USA).
In recent years, the larger triathlon specific stores have decided to take on more wetsuit brands and less depth in sizes. In otherwords, we would have a great retail account that would carry our brand but attempt to inventory 6 other brands. The result??? They would sell you the suit they had on hand at the time and not the best suit for you.
We are very supportive of triathlon shops and are working towards finding more partners that are willing to stock full size runs to service our customers.
I’m glad to hear you guys are alive and well. I have a vortex which i like a lot, even though I’m not fully used to swimming in a fullsuit. Keep up the great work.

Don’t forget Zoot! They are San Diego based too (north county) and if I’m not mistaken, are also privately owned by a Triathlete. I know they design their Wetzoots in house. I’m glad to hear you’re still in business, I was starting to wonder too… More competition = better suits and value for us all!
Just wanted to chime in…been working w/ Keith Simmons here in San Diego (my home base) throughout the move. Keith’s a great friend - not to mention that XTERRA WETSUITS has been the only suit i’d chose to race in…both for comfort and speed. It’s been awesome to get them out here to SD…a big of transition for them…but they’re rollin’ and stoked on moving forward from here. Keith’s so fired up.
I’ll be working with XTERRA on special projects as they move forward…look out for great things to come!
Also, FYI: Wanted to let everyone know that, with all of my sponsors, including XTERRA, I (and hopefully other pro athletes) are a great link to reach companies with specific, pertinent comments/questions, such as this. I form great, close relationships with sponsors, and have relayed many comments and questions about them from athletes directly to the pertinent people in the company. So feel free to email anytime.

Also don’t forget Promotion, which is also us based and I believe assembles its suits in the US

Thanks for the props - NOT.
Call us for blow out pricing on any Xterra suit we have in stock (40% off). Help us move on to another brand that supports its dealers. I have no qualm with the quality of the suits but the dealer support is near the bottom of the barrell (maybe underneath it). I called Keith numerous times asking questions - no answer. I called the office - no answer. If Keith wanted to call me now - no answer.
BTW - Zoot is a USA HQ’d company. They even have one of the premier wetsuit designers at the company - Karen Sing(h) formerly of QR.
I can vouch for XTerra’s activity in the sport, especially with the clubs. Our club signed on with XTerra about 18 months ago and they have been a great sponsor! It’s no accident that many of our 600 members are now sporting XTerra wetsuits at races and open water swims, myself included. Great product and great grass-roots support.
As for the person asking where to find them in Norcal, if you’re in the bay area, drop me a line and I can let you know a few retail locations.
