I’m getting my fixed gear ready for Winter riding. Outside most of the time with some time on trainer. Do you consider the Zaffiro a pretty good outside Winter tire? I ride 28mm tires on Velocity Deep Vs.
Thanks

The Zaffiro Pro is my training tire in 23c. They are durable but I don’t know what difference the Pro version is.
From what I can tell, about $15. I really like these tires. Between the Steel frame and 28mm tires, I’m really loving the ride.
I’ve had had good luck with them. Ride isn’t too harsh. Good tire wear.
Right now I’m using some super cheap forte (performance bike) touring tires. A little stiff, but great wear and durability and they cost like $15 each.
Looks lioke the Pro is 100g lighter per tire (240 vs 340 for 23c) and 60TPI vs 26TPI. The Pro Tech appears to be intended specifically for winter conditions but only comes in 23c
Good tires, softer tread than Gatorskins (which is good in cold weather) but still pretty durable.
I use them on my winter bike, good tire.
Ran over a glass bottle last weekend, the sidewall were cut but the tread was fine
Yes, I have had them in 23 and 28, good tyre.
Could the difference be kevlar beads vs. steel? I think I always bought the steel variety since it’s cheaper. It’s not like weight matters when it’s 20F on a “warm” sunny Jan. afternoon and you have about 3 layers on. Actually the slower the better, sicne you stay warmer.
Rolls like a garden hose compared to a race tire, obviously. Good for resisting flats though. I’ve used the 23 and 25 widths, thousands of miles on the road and crushed limestone paths. No complaints.

Soft tread compound compared to “high mileage tires” but the case is decently thick. Seems to be one of the faster rolling inexpensive tires I’ve tried.
