Is the EPIX basically the Fenix 7 with AMOLED?

I was wondering why they didn’t include the AMOLED screen on the Fenix 7 and then started thinking … the EPIX is basically the Fenix 7 w/ the AMOLED screen- no ?

Exactly that - see DC Rainmaker reviews for the details…

… that’s what I thought. Thx.
Now I wait for them to come out with an EPIX Plus so that all of my Fenix 5 X Plus bands fit the EPIX.

Different look, different screen, less battery life.

I’ve had a Fenix 5 for quite awhile and recently picked up the Epix. It seems like a no brainer that they’ll do a 7X sized Epix, this display on a larger watch seems like a great match.

I’ve never had one of the “X” sized versions, the middle one is about the limit of what I’m willing to wear day to day. But have really liked the Fenix 5 and so far I’m very pleased with the Epix. I skipped the 6 and never used the 7 so I don’t have a direct comparison but it’s a bit more comfortable than the 5, the screen is great and the optical HRM is working much better for me. I didn’t think I’d care but the touchscreen is helpful, especially when changing settings, using it is a bit easier than the normal button pushing.

It is very much like my old Fenix though in terms of features. But I think it is a worthy upgrade having used a Fenix for a few years.

I don’t wear a watch while I sleep, and I don’t have one on now, but the battery life is plenty for me (so was the Fenix 5).

I love my Fenix 6X which I use as sportswatch and as everyday watch. And as bikecomputer.

The only disadvantage is the screen, which is (without using the light-button) only well visible outside in bright sunlight, or under shop window lighting.
That’s a shame, because it makes all the nice beautiful watchfaces which you can download unusable.

The Epix seems to just solve that problem. Batterylife is less than with the Fenix 6X, but enough. 7 days normal use with screen “always on” is ok, and the slowest Ironman (17h) is supported.

So I can hardly wait for my Fenix to break down, although there is one little thing: I like the “X”, and the Epix is only in the middle version available. Maybe wait for the Epix X, then all my wishes will be fulfilled in all eternity. And: an “X” version will probably have longer battery life.

I’ve been waiting …………… and waiting……….
Same scenario.
And in addition all of my bands for my current Fenix (51 mm) don’t fit the current EPIX.
So ……………. waiting ……………. and …………

I am still using my 8 year old Fenix 3 and plan to for some time. It is funny you said the X series are too large for you. I looked it up and the 7X is actually smaller than the 3 (same width but a touch thinner). Whereas the 3 has the same screen size as the 7S.

I don’t know if the 3 will make it another 3 years for them to put out an EPIX-X, but it would be a great option if it does.

Funny, less than a year from my last post and now they have an EPIX-X or EPIX PRO 51. However in the mean time they put out the 965.

The new Pro is tempting compared to the 965 with double the battery life (and double the weight), a flashlight, ECG and improved HR sensor. But I also need to upgrade my head unit and for the prices of the new EPIX I can get both a 965 and a Edge 840.
