IS Shimano Di2 race legal?

Hi there, are Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and Ultegra Di2 race legal for both road races and triathlons?

Regards.

Yes. I have never seen a restriction in any bike or triathlon

Yes. As far as I know, the only rule in any way restricting the use of Di2 or Ultegra Di2 is the UCI rule concerning the length of your aero extensions. When using mechanical bar end shifters the extension length is measured to the pivot bolt, when using electronic bar end shifters the extension length is measured to the tip.

I don’t race UCI TT’s so I could be wrong, but I’ve seen that on here a few times and thought it might be relevant enough to repeat it here.

Why wouldn’t they be legal? Is there something that makes you think they are not?

Legal in crits.

There was an initial issue (in cycling) that with di2 the rider was not actually making the change, some fringe UCI rule about what constitutes rider input . . . .

currently the only issue is that in UCI legal TT the length of the aero bar is measured to the absolute furthest point on the “shifter” on Di2 as opposed to the pivot point of the shifter for a traditional mechanical shifter.

The issue was (in soime peoples minds) that the rule against energy storage devices would make it illegal. I wouldn’t have been surprized if the UCI banned it when it came out, mainly because I wouldn’t be surprised if they ban anything for some random reason. but they didn’t and wont now.
