Is running with a tibial hematoma a bad idea?

Is running with a tibial hematoma a bad idea?

Thoughts? Expertise? Personal experience? Stories?

My .02 for what it is worth. Not to be snarky … but your best bet is to follow the advice of your doctor. The ST community is knowledgeable but no replacement for an in person visit with your primary care physician.

Are you asking if you can run with a bruised shin?

The only thing I would add is that going to a sports doc for a training/competition related injury is the appropriate thing to do. Family practitioners in my opinion tend to be pretty conservative in their treatment of sports injuries. I like to know what my limits are when rehabbing an injury and a sports doc will most accurately do that.

Agreed. Thanks

Not snarky. It’s a great point.

I was just wondering if fellow slowtwitchers had anecdotal thoughts or experiences (which may or may not be applicable). Certainly I’m not looking for a substitute of real medical evaluation.

Not really just a bruise - I was referring more to a hematoma, which is a lump that develops after a trauma/bruise. Tried a quick google search that yielded a lot of info but very little about running with it.

It’s just a bad bruise. I get shinners skateboarding sometimes and usually run through it unless I can tell that it’s screwing up my gait. Hopefully no one here tells us that this can lead to amputation.
