LBS didn’t have the PC 89 SRAM chain I usually use so instead got a DA chain and stuck the master link from my old SRAM chain on there. Seems to work fine. Are there any reasons this could be a problem in terms of compatibility or reusing the master link?
I have been with no trouble.

What about the Wipperman connex link with a Shimano 9 speed chain? Compatible?
Yes it will work but…
A. The cage on Shimano DA/Ultegra 10-speed front deraileurs is narrower than the 9 speed predecessors which can cause the link to rub on the edge of the cage when employing acute chain lines.
B. My experience with this exact situation indicated that the setup works (save for the noise with bad chain lines), but we have since gone to the Wipperman Connex 10 speed links which are the proper width and in my case, I think it makes the setup a little smoother shifting as well as quieter overall.
