IronMan Wetsuit Q?

I use the IronMan VO2 Stealth wetsuit (New beginning last season). I’m not all that slow with sub 20min on OLY’s the norm. Yesterday did a sprint Tri where T1 was vital as it was only 400m swim. One area I still lack in is to get the suit of as quickly as possible. Yesterday again lost a couple of second… after a very good swim…

My Q:

  1. What do I do with the ZIP cord?? The cord tangled around my right shoulder a couple of times putting me off during the swim.
  2. I noticed that once I do manage to get hold of the cord behind my back it is best to unzip before undoing the collar. I noticed some other makes have a little velcro section to secure their cords to so you know where to look for it.

Guys at IronMan wetsuit I know you are keen followers of this forum, your help will be appreciated!

Thanks.

Hi Postman Pat (nice nick)

To answer your questions,

1/ There is a bit of loop (the curly stuff) velcro on the end of the zip cord. This can be hooked up into the collar velcro, so you know where it is.

2/ Definitely recommend unzipping the suit BEFORE you undo the collar. The zip is easy to do up and down when it is better aligned and the edges are not under as much load, such as when the collar is closed.

Other than that, using copious amount of a suitable lubricant, on ankles and wrists, as well as practise will assist you in getting out of the suit.

Let me know if you have any other questions

I wondered what that extra stuff was for!

I have swam in my Ironman Stealth 2 times so far and I love it.

I am not sure I understand how the pull cord goes…So does that mean that you use the velcro on the zipper pull cord to attach it to the collar velcro? Then you have a (closed?) loop of the cord from the zipper at one end to the collar? Seems that could be problamatic.

Do you tuck the extra length of the pull cord in or do you just let it dangle?

Just let it dangle. It’s totally out of the way, and much less likely that anyone will grab it and, er, accidentally, unzip you. If I let the whole zipcord hang down, it sometimes gets in the way. I’ve never had a problem when I attach the end to the collar closure.
