I would have thought Sanders’ odd better than those of Wurf - interesting that betting odds have them the same?
Sanders at 12/1 for the podium is decent value. I don’t think he will make the podium, but does he have an 8% shot at doing so? Probably much higher than that when you consider that he’s batting 33% since 2017.
Certainly better odds than Wurf, McNamee at the same value, or maybe even Currie at 8/1
To be fair Mcnamee has been on the podium as much as Lionel has!
I’m actually thinking Wurf might have a sneaky good day. He normally swims and bikes faster than Lionel. Big question mark is the run. Hasn’t had the bike team commitments lately so able to put in a solid tri training block.

Seems like Kallin is rumoured to go for the bike record. Which makes him even more likely to blow on the run. Laidlow and Ditlev will love the idea if he joins them to break the field. Plus, following two guys who are 6’5 /195cm must make it look good for Laidlow!
I predicted that 2 weeks ago. In this thread.
Kona bike front gets TV time and a name. he will gain more from that and a dead run this year then a good overall race.
I think we will see fast bike splits and run splits with the weather but WHO will have the best combo will be the outcome in 24 hours.
In the old days the 7:20-7:30 depending on weather was the winner.
tomorrow I think someone will go bike and run combo 6:40 -6:45 for the win sub 4 hour bike 2:44 run or 4:05 bike run 2:35.
Top 5 guys that can do it
Blu 4:00 - 2:35
burton (3:55- 2:45)
Magnus 3:55 - 2:45
Laidlow 3:55 - 2:45
iden ( if healthy) or else lange with a 4:05-4:09 / 2:32-2:35
What time does the canon go off tomorrow?
Woops! My Google skills were off. 6:25 am Hawaii time. I got my am/pm messed up in the conversion.
He will not go for the bike course record. He will do the best he can over the whole race. Putting out high power numbers in Hawaii conditions and managing core temp vs at most other races is also a very different thing so the bike may play out differently than people think.
Really betting on Sam laying low this year love the contrarian non-pick!
Another hit from Benito
Gotta love the Perroflauta
I can look at the weather station info, but how hot will it be compared to previous years ?
Winds seem moderate ?
My weather station has 32c and winds at 16km/h. In many places around the world, that is light since you rarely get full wind at ground level.
I am mostly interested based on a few equipment selection choices
Wind forecast is up. Sustained 10-15MPH, gusts to 35. It’s supposed to rain in the morning and then get steamy in the afternoon. Maybe not as “hot” but it’s not going to be a walk in the park, either.
