Or should I say Iron-ish Distance to save myself some litigation!! Last Friday I took off on a day of fun to replace my prior plans to head to MOO. This is basically the self supported race of topics gone by.
Anyway, the ride 9, swim 2.4, ride 9, ride 100 and run 27 was a good time in perfect low 70s temps under clear skies in the triathlon playground of VT that I call home. Couple of gap climbs and some scenic vista views on the run just topped things off!!
Outside of the ride to and from the pond I transitioned in the garage and used convenience stores as aid stations on the ride and run - they were well stocked
Now just debating if I will ever actually do another official IM as it was nice to not have all the hype, neccesity of early arrival, forced long hotel stays, 200 friends swimming with me and having to cart all my crap back post race
Final note is that I will have to admit that only having 2 aid stations on the ride at 46 and 78 and 3 on the run at 11, 16 and 21 may not be for everyone and also not everyone is lucky enough to live in such a perfect place such as VT to go play in for a day.
I will be looking for company next year in the early summer
