Major bummer about Rhodsey though. Leading the race and pulls his calf. He’s had bad luck in the UK. Hit by a car last year a couple of days before the race and now this.
Are you serious… a 57 year ol lady comes in 6th o/a ???
Wow.
Can’t be right as Geraldine (a friend of mine), simply could not have done that time, even though she qualified for Kona last year via Lanzarote. She is normally in the 15 hour range. Either it is time for me to give up, or they have screwed up her marathon time big time!
I believe the winner is one of those Planet X studs we were promised to hear about soon. Stephen Bayliss is Bella Comerfords boyfriend and was on Team Timex for a year. Jimmy Johnsen is one of those rising Danish athletes who is a very good runner.
Tommy Nielsen is an age grouper who is the man to beat in Kona in his age group.
It’s interesting to look at the wheel choices, lots of composites from the male pros (H3, Nimble, Xentis) and not so many disc wheels. Any comments from the aero gurus?

Lumpy, bumpy course and crap roads - probably would be better off on a mountain bike. I did it a couple of years ago - NEVER AGAIN!!
I saw Scott coming out of the castle while in 2nd place - looked very comfortable. Excellent result for him on a tough course.
The course is very unforgiving and there was no let up yesterday. The wind was unrelenting and that have been the decision to leave the discs at home. I was on 60mm and was getting blown around at certain stages.
Scott is a real dark horse and huge talent - only been competing in triathlon 2 1/2 years - managed 9 hours and 1 second at hawaii last year as an agegrouper- on a bike that really looked way too big for him , and a full time job , would have been sub 9 but for dropping the scottish flag and going back tp ick it up .
He does not look like your typical world class triathlete but hes got a real good engine , 8.35 on that course is pretty fast. Clas Bjorling did 8-40 in 06 , and rhodes won in 8-42 in 05 - so the time is rigt up there with some good athletes .
He even managed this time with his xentis front wheel in the wrong way round .

So you need to provide a little booklet with your wheels ! Paint some arrows “this way front”
Can’t be right as Geraldine (a friend of mine)…
I rode with her (at least I think its her) for a short while on the second lap. She was very upset as the cold and wet saw a return of the bronchitis she’d had a couple of weeks before. I suspect the time in the original results was her handing in her chip to the finish line marshal as she pulled out of the race.
