What IM again? Never underestimate the power of sleep…if you give up sleep the training will not be as solid as more sleep and a tad less training.
IM Louisville and IMFL. I do get to sneak in an hour or so here and there at work, but real sleep seems too hard to get
Trust the voice of experience on this one, brother…
Your best physical goals for this trip are…
a) Be consistent - make it every single day, even if the actual workout(s) have to be modest based on missions.
b) Focus on what you can do. Again, from experience, I suggest focusing on your run, and on using the stationary bike to keep your butt and legs fit for a post-deployment surge on the bike.
c) Take advantage of the time in the gym to work on every one of your physical tri-related weaknesses.
d) Get enough sleep. Hard to do, definitely (I used to think it impossible), but I found that being really disciplined in that regard paid off in every area.
Take care…
Congrats on keeping with it. I’ll echo what others have said- consistency and enough sleep are key. My desert trip was quite a while ago- 2002- and I was a powerlifter back then, but the consistency/sleep mantras still applied. Kick some ass!
