Ironman Texas 2025 - Predictions and Race Day

4:19:46 bike - fastest time on this 180km course.
Matthews less than 6 minutes down in ?4:20 and bits (Edit: 4:20:08)
Game on.

Kat can run her down. This should be fun.

Commentators waffling so much that they completely missed KB dropped Benito…ugh!

Well he said he was willing to risk blowing up to stay in the mix. Might be as simple as that. I appreciate that mentality.

I’ve been less annoyed by them than usual today, but that’s a huge miss.

Anyone know why Trevor Foley dropped out?

So an answer to Kat’s new cycling coach, 4;20 is super solid and would be out of this world except for the one person in the sport that puts that 2nd best split. But limiting that deficit was the goal, unfortunately the swim deficit went out. Triathlon is such a give and take sport, now lets see if that 2;49 will suffer from a harder bike.

Very early, but Taylor looks very controlled. Imagine she is hitting numbers and taking nurtiriton when the beep goes off on her watch…

You’re speaking up mighty early here Monty :grimacing::grimacing:

No but he has been nowhere all day, was well over 15 mins down, irrelevant similarly to Matt Hanson and Marquardt.
Benito completely blown, probably he tried to stick with KB and got burned hard

first mile Kat was 30 seconds faster, let’s see if it settles…plus Taylor had dropped that nutrition stuff

Well IF the one mile mat was accurate, then 6:30 is the pace I’d expect (for 2:50).
Edit: the mat is not accurate, or the next one isn’t
OR Matthews is running mid-2:40s pace!

Thus my beginning with “very early”… Lets see where they are at in 5 or more miles when everyone has settled down. That first split of course had a backtrack from Taylor, so maybe 10 seconds in the mile there. But for sure the gap is going to close for a time as Kat is in full on chase mode, while Taylor is running her race for however long coach has told her to hold the reigns.

At 2.7 k kat run like the guys
Only the Norwegians really started faster than her …

Matthews running at a rash 2:39 pace. Needs to rein it back and catch slowly.
Caveat: IF the mat at 2.3 miles accurate,
Edit: Knibb running at 2:54 pace. (and that was before the ‘admin stop’).

I’m kind of curious how Taylor will act if Kat catches her quickly.

Kat we know loves the 1v1 race. Taylor isn’t used to any competition.

Gustav started way too fast as well, he was running sub 2.30…
Benito’s timing was wrong, he’s lost only 40 seconds, still a healthy advantage over RVB

If timing’s right, she’s still going 6 min miles, that’s mad. She gained 2 mins in 3.5 miles! She’d catch before halfway point.

I have a feeling that is part of Kat’s strategy. We know Kat has that dog in her and I bet she wants to get up to Taylor as fast as possible to see if Taylor has it in her too.

I am hoping for a good Norwegian day. Sadly Casper is not having the best day or start of the season.
