Ironman St. George Lodging Recommendations

Hey Slowtwitchers!

Anyone out there who has done IMSG or from the area that has recommendations on specific places to stay in the area? I am looking for a place that is within a mile or two of T2 and prefarably close to a section of the course.

In previous posts I have read about Green Valley and Las Palmas having some nice places and the last time I checked VRBO it seems that a large number of them are still available. It seems the issue is that these places are a bit outside of town and would require a car to get anywhere related to the event.

The hotels on the race website and tourism sites seem reasonable this year. When I get an online quote for rates, it does not seem that they are jacking up the rates like I heard about last year? Anyone else book one of the hotels in the area that can confirm if this is the case?

Does anyone have a specific hotel that they would recommend for one reason or the other?

I signed up for IMSG back in May (thinking it would sell out like all other IM’s), but as we all know, it’s still open. I booked the Comfort Suites on Main St. which is fairly close to the finish (according to the maps) back in May as well for $602 for 4 nights. That’s for a King w/sofa sleeper. They had cheaper rooms. So, that’s $150/night which includes all the taxes./ Not too bad.

Ironman St George is a great venue and I am sure you will enjoy the race. We stayed at the 7 Wives Bed and Breakfast which is 1 block from the run course and 3 blocks from T-2. The innkeepers are a yound couple who welcomed us with open arms. Check to see if they have any openings. www.sevenwivesinn.com
