Ironman louisville hotels

Sgned up for ironman louisville wondering on where people have styed…herd Galt isn’t so great and those coming typically like to stay in decent place anyone styed t C21 if so how was it
Dwntown Marriott ?

Thanks,!

I stayed in the Galt House in 2011. Above average accomidations in my opinion. We got one of the rooms that had a seperate living room which was great for all the gear I had. Puzzled that you have heard that others didnt have a good experience?

IMHO, Galt House is too crazy with athlete check in, expo, etc. YMMV. Elevators are extremely slow. Lobby is a clusterf*ck all weekend long.

I’ve stayed at the Hyatt (beside the Marriott) for the past two years. They spent $8 million to renovate the lobby, restaurant and other common areas. I could see the finish line from my window in 2011. Being that close to the finish is totally worth it. I will stay there any time I go back.

Hoping to get into IM Florida for 2013!

I stayed at the Marriott (downtown) four times and it is ok. I am trying the Gault House this time. I have always heard good things about the Gault House.

I stayed at Galt House for this years race. Its a nice “old” hotel. Request a high floor, even though its the host hotel, still lots of people staying there that are not there for the race. We had a room “with a balcony” located right next to the bar area on the first floor (or whatever floor the rooms started on) in the middle and heard drunk couples arguing outside in the middle of the night both friday and saturday night.

Location and Atmosphere, you cant beat it, if its your first full and want the whole experience, I say go for it. If not, there are lots of places in the same area as this place that may be a bit more quiet and less chaotic, maybe even a bit cheaper.

Dont you just love nuetral answers to these types of questions?

Residence Inn Louisville East.

It’s about 10 min from downtown. 2 bedroom/2 bathroom/full kitchen

Half the price of staying downtown.

The Seelbach Hotel is right at the finish line and the Brown Hotel is about 2 blocks south of the finish on 4th st.,both very nice but rather pricey.

I stayed at the Brown hotel in 2010.

Tip - USE Priceline. I think I payed like $70/night for 4 nights there. It’s pretty cheap. There are only a handful of 4-star hotels in the area and they’re all nice. Bid away!

Second the Priceline thing. Every year I go down there I reserve a room, just to have it and then two days before go to priceline and get something for $60 -$80 a night.

We stayed at the Springhill Suites. About 3 blocks to finish line and walking distance to everything else. Nice suite, plenty of room for the bike, excellent breakfast and lounge. The pool is a bit small, no hot tub. Gatorade provided at check-in was nice and on race morning. Grab bag breakfast on race day. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

I’ll second the Hyatt. You can walk from the finish line to the hotel in about…oh say, 30 seconds. My family loved being so close to the restaurants and finish line. We barely got in the car once we got there.

i’ve stayed at the galt twice. last year i had a newer room which was fairly high up and it was great. this year we were in the tower that didn’t host the expo and the room felt dated. if i go back, i’ll look into other hotels. the galt is ok but with so many other athletes there, the elevators get ridiculously crowded.

If you stay at the Gault House, stay on the 3rd floor, you can take the escalators from the lobby and never have to wait for the elevators
.

Our room at Galt was great, except for the elevator issues which everyone else mentioned.

The bar on the sky bridge between the towers is good for per-race “hydration”.

The Hampton Inn is not bad too and not that far from the finish line but just far enough where it’s not so crazy during the weekend of IM. I third the priceline suggestion.

In '09 I stayed at the Seelbach and really liked it. I cashed in Hilton points for it, so it was free. Very classy, old-school looking hotel. Literally steps away from the finish line (I could see the finish from my room window)

I agree with all of this - I’d pick the Hyatt as well. If price is a big concern, check out the hotels right across the river in Jeffersonville, IN.

If I was booking a room here for the race and money wasn’t an issue, I’d stay at the Seelbach. You could fall over at the finish line and practically land in your bed.
