Ironman legacy application

Hi all
Done my 12 - so what info do I need for my legacy application?
Cheers

If only there was a website available to answer all your questions.

https://www.ironman.com/kona-legacy

Indeed, thanks. I’ve read that several times.

If only it told you what information the application required.

I have the same problem, done 12 ironmans and now what I have to do? The Ironman site dont tell too much

Race Name, Year, Bib# & possibly finish time (not sure about that last one. Ironman should be able to look that up pretty easily).

Thanks, a great help, much appreciated.

Send an essay and a license plate to Laz, and hope for the best.

Your Credit Card numbers!

be ready to wait at least 3 more years to get your shot
.

Your Credit Card numbers! That comes in the Spring of the year you actually get to do the race.

Send an essay and a license plate to Laz, and hope for the best.

excellent.

Congratulations!!

I haven’t gone through it myself but I had a friend qualify last year. He told me at the time how it worked for him and I’ll share my memory and if it’s wrong somebody will pop in and say.

When the lottery opens on the 29th you go in and place your order.

I think I remember that he had to provide information from each of his finishes with his $50. I know it seems nuts but i think it’s what he had to do.

They check it and a few months later they confirm and tell you what year you will get to go.

 hth

Make sure you are signed up for a race every year, it might take you a few years. I got lucky and got in the first year. I needed to have done an Ironman in the year leading up and that was my12th, my 13th was Kona.

Yeah, saw it was for 2022.

That’s a long wait.

What’s the bet WTC will have moved the WC from Kona by that point and it’ll be a normal entry IM…

I just applied as well…

Looks like ‘12 and your in’ is a bunch of crap. We have to register for a 2020 full in order to validate your application. So 13 and you are in!

You would figure with the law-suits IM received regarding the Kona lottery they would clean this up a bit. This is a clear case of ‘false advertising’.

So 13 and you can wait.
But once you verify your application; than you can do a full, 70.3, or 5i50 through the Kona year. They are saying 2022 right now, but I know many atheltes that got calls ahead of time and were able to move up at least 1 year and a few atheltes got a 2 year bump.
I emalied IM to ask but it looksl like we will need to do yet another full in 2020.

J just applied to the legacy program today. I don’t mind waiting since this is a lifestyle for me, but where does it say the wait is 2022?

Theres an asterisk next to wait list statement:

Due to the high demand of the Legacy Program and popularity of this event, there will be more eligible athletes than there are slots available, therefore placing athletes on our waitlist*. The Legacy Program is not a drawing and an applicant’s position on the waitlist is based on the timestamp of their application submission.

*The current waitlist is for the 2022 IRONMAN World Championship.

So theres that. Personally I dont mind the qualifying, or keeping doing triathlon to keep the application live. 2022 is a bit of a wait though. But hey, its popular.

It’s not false advertising. 12 and you’re eligible. Nowhere do thay say 12 and you’re in

Fair but they should say 12 and your eligble + you must do another full (13) to complete your application.
A bit of a false statement saying 12 and your eligble.

I just think it is BS that you aim for 12 and than you go to register and surprise, you need to pay another $800 and train and complete another IM race and than you are eligible for the waitlist.
Once again, it should be 13 and you are on the list; not 12.

Registration requirement for another IM is laid out clearly on the website. It’s basically a validation race
