My wife is looking to create shirts for my first Ironman (Wisconsin). Does anyone have any recommendations for a font that is similar to the font used in the official Ironman logo???
Everyone loves Comic Sans
.
The organization is protective of the logo. You might want to consider another design.
Have a great race!
I have never seen them care about people who make shirts to support an athlete at a race.
Selling shirts on the other hand…
The Ironman font is licensed by the WTC.
Licenses will be available for onsite purchase beginning at 8:00AM. Any remaining licenses will be available for purchase online beginning at 10:00AM the same day. After the maximum number of licenses have been sold, additional licenses will be made available through charity slots.
NEW this year, will be a font license lottery. Registration for the font license lottery begins 30 days after general license sales have closed.
Sorry, couldn’t resist…
BAHAHAHAHA! That was perfect!
Yeah, I’ve never seen or heard about them going after someone making one or two shirts for a race. I’m not looking to sell anything here. The problem with the fonts I have found (and I am being totally anal about it, I know) is that they are close, but not close enough to the real font so it makes them look horrible.
I think I have decided on going with a completely contrasting font instead for some of the work. I was lucky enough to find a high enough resolution IronWife logo to incorporate into the shirt for my wife though so that is a win.
Once they are finalized, I’ll have to post some pictures.

There are communities on the net devoted to fonts and determining what they are. Start there, and do a search. Report back on what you find out.
Alas, at Lake Placid Ironman, I heard about two situations where the WTC expressed concern about the use of their logo. One was on a car and one was a family with homemade tee-shirts. Email the WTC and ask them! Let us know their response.

Well done, that’s really funny !

the dot and M."

Wow! Perfect! It’s even cheaper than the WTC licensing fee
