Ironman coeur d' Alene lodging

Hi tri peeps!
I’ve never done coeur d’alene and would appreciate lodging suggestions. I’m on a wait list for a timeshare but Ned a plan b. Thanks in advance for your suggestions…

Are you set on staying in CdA? We stayed in Spokane this year and it was great, specifically the Oxford Suites and they were incredible. Free breakfast every morning and free drinks (2) at the bar each night. The hotel is right on the river and you have access to all the paths along it.

It was about 30 minutes from the course/expo in CdA, including race morning. I can PM you more info if you like.

That sounds like my kind of place!!

have you gone through vrbo? there are quite a few houses really close to the race site. Some are walking distance to the race which is nice if you have family staying with you

I am doing the 70.3 in June and found a charming bed and breakfast in the village.

American Country Bed and Breakfast. Brian and Shar go above and beyond for Ironman participants.

I am a Cd’A local. I used to rent an extra house on Hayden Lake, 13 miles away from downtown Cd’A, to vacation renters including during Ironman week. I don’t have that house anymore but here are my suggestions:

Check VRBO and believe it or not, Craigslist. Try to get close to downtown Cd’A. It’s fun down there and you will be immersed into the Ironman / town culture if you are close to the epicenter. Accommodations range from renting an extra room in someone’s house to renting the whole house. A surprising number of locals are willing to hit the road while they rent their house for one week a year.

There’s a good Hampton Inn and a Marriott property right next to it, a couple of miles out from race start. Plenty of other hotels at all price / amenity ranges around town.

There is a company called Resort Property Management in Cd’A that has some vacation rentals that are not on VRBO.

As another poster said, the Spokane Valley area is home to additional hotels and is relatively close to the race start. Word of caution: Last year’s 70.3 was the same weekend as Hoopfest in Spokane, a major event which fills up hotels there. So plan early if a hotel is your option.

Do air BNB. Look for a lady named Rosie I think, or Roxann maybe. Perfect spot, 3 BR house, right in the middle of the run course. Walking distance to everything.

I stayed at Red Lion in Post Falls…about a 10min drive to the action. Super easy drive, parking… I really found no need to be close to the action. Plus there is a brew pub half a block away!
