i was listening to Greg Bennett’s podcast with Ben Hoffman. He seems to have run the fastest run split in an IM at IM Florida. I seem to recall an elite runner racing the Penticton course back in the 90’s with a really fast run split after quite a slow swim and bike but I can’t find a record of it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone has access to the course records for the swim bike and run on the old Penticton Ironman Canada course to confirm or refute my suspicion. Thanks
Colin Dignum ran 2:38 at IMC in 1997…(25th place overall at 9:15:52)

Thanks. That’s the one I was thinking of but couldn’t remember the name or the exact time.

Good answer if the OP had asked about Texas. WTF.
Colin Dignum is of course the answer. It’s been discussed a few times here.
Legend has it that Colin’s lengthy T2 included a stint in a hot tub to loosen up for the run.

Colin admitted afterward that this was a bit of a set-up. He was a World Class Duathlete at the time. I can’t recall what he swam on that day in '97, but I know he backed WAY off on the bike, in the hope of letting lose a Best Ever legit IM Run Course time.
He passed me after the turn for home at the half way mark in OK Falls and I was running just slightly over 7min/miles en route to my own 3:10 run split, like I was standing still at his slightly below 6min/mile pace! He was the only one to pass me on the day. We trained together a bit in Vancouver, so I quickly patted him on the back as he went by and wished him the best!
and as long as you were not running in a gorilla suit while patting him on the back, the record still stands!
