All things considered, which do you prefer?
Looking to do one of these races next year, coming from Los Angeles will be my 7th Full. Apples to apples, which would you recommend?

If you are travelling with kids, Tremblant is probably the better option for the family. And the chance to spend a day or two in Montreal post race is a consideration. You can also fly direct to Montreal from LAX.
Penticton might have a bit more history going for it, and slightly better scenery.
Someone else said MT was better for family too. Due to timing and school starting about the same time as the race, I’ll likely be going sans family, but with a few training buddies.
Could consider driving to penticton vs dealing with airport gong shows, lost bikes etc
.
That depends.
If you want a similar (but much more laid back) feel to SoCal then BC is your answer.
If you want to experience Quebec, then Tremblant is your answer.
Tip for Penticton: coming from L.A. I would recommend flying WestJet and connect on to Kelowna. Penticton airport is not where you want to fly to.

Good to know about Penticton airport, figured Flyyng LAX to Vancouver to Penticton was the way,

Yup. Some do that but Penticton airport is TINY.
Kelowna is cheaper to fly, it will probably be a jet (more room for bikes) and has way more car rental options.
It’s about an hour drive from Kelowna airport to Penticton.
Some drive from Vancouver airport too. Scenic, but takes 3-4 hours.
Good to know, thanks for the heads up!
If you are doing an Ironman racing in your own time zone is always nicer, so I favour Penticton from LA…going east to race is always hard.
If going to and from the race is a non issue, having done Penticton 7 times, and Tremblant full 2 times and 70.3 around 7 times I would take Tremblant as a better race experience overall from the course to the village, to the organization. It is just slightly better all around.
In any case, I put my experience at both in the top tier with Kona+Nice+South Africa. Kona is only in my personal top tier group because it is a championship. Not sure I would put it in the same categorgy with these other races otherwise.

Thanks.
Definitely get the time zone thing, but I don’t have problems adjusting, let alone only 3hrs. That and a LAX - YUL direct flight is nice.
I’m sure I’ll do both at some point, but am leaning Mont Trem next year. Thanks for everyone’s insight.
Also maaaaaybe was looking at these 2 races, but there appears to be one big difference between the 2: Mt Tremblant is the last race where the slots are for 2023 Kona (same year), whereas Pentincton appears to offer slots for next year’s WC. At least that was the case this year, and they don’t have the qualifying races for 2024 WC listed yet.
If all my other plans fall through, I’ll be picking Penticton for this reason.

Penticton used to be the last qualifier race, but it was always a brutal turnaround if you qualified for Kona.
OTOH, lots of life events happen when you qualify over a year out that prevent getting to the start line.
Westjet
LAX > Kelowna via Vancouver or Calgary
