I was feeling like I’d be more than ready last week, but this week I’ve got a bad cold that’s put me down for a couple of days and just the thought of running makes my head hurt right now. Hopefully I’ll get past it and then be healthy (and injury free) for the next 9 weeks.
really this tread needs to stop. listening to how much biking everyone down south is able to do is stressing me out !!!
its giving you all an unfair psychological advantage (as well as physical)!! its not enough that we know your out biking, and wearing shorts, getting a tan, etc. ?!?! posting it is just mean !!
I had a helmet mirror when I was only on a road bike. Once I clipped aerobars on, I took it off because of the “shoulder view”. You guys have inspired me to do something on my new tri-bike. Thanks - You may have saved my life!
My training is not going as “planned”, since I typically miss 1-2 workouts per week from my training plan. But it’s going as “expected” since I expect to miss the occasional workout due to work or family commitments.
That said, below are my typical weekly planned workouts and estimated total distances. All weekday rides are on the trainer since I often train before sunrise.
Mon = tempo bike, weights
Tue = long swim, tempo run
Wed = speed bike, speed run
Thu = speed swim, weights
Fri = easy bike, easy run
Sat = long bike/brick, tempo swim
Sun = long run, easy swim
Approx totals:
Swim = 10k
Bike = 175m
Run = 40m
Despite the above volume, I have very low expectations for the race. It’s my first IM and my only goals are to 1) finish and 2) RUN the marathon. If that means I coast on the swim and bike and have embarrasing splits there, then so be it. The amount of time it would take me to get “fast” at all 3 disciplines over the IM distance is just not worth the effort.
