Ironman and spreading the Christianity word

I read an interesting interview with Dr. Giles the owner of the WTC/Ironman on American Tri’s website the other day: http://www.americantri.com/mambo/index.php?option=news&task=viewarticle&sid=112

I did not know how closely aligned Ironman and Christianity might actually be. Interesting to read about Dr. Giles printing company: http://www.lovepress.com

“I did not know how closely aligned Ironman and Christianity might actually be”

They have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Everybody is entitled to their religious beliefs, but to try to amalgamate IM with Christainity is ridiculous.

I appreciated the link and the read. The owner seems to seperate WTC largely from his beliefs but does use IM as a (partial) metaphor. I can’t see the connection between IM and spreading Christianity. If anything some of WTC’s policies could use “less business” and more “Do onto others…” I’m thinking of a more generous refund/race transfer policy.

Contradiction and organized religion: A match made in heaven.

Ceveloguy I have no problem with anyones religious beliefs or what they do with their own money. I am just fine with the owner of the company taking their profits and applying them to something they feel passionate about, in fact I wish more people would pursue their passions. This was simply something I was not aware of and now sit and think if I want to support these triathlons and the owners realizing where my dollars might eventually go. I am simply looking at my own actions and what they affect as I disagree, I think my support of these races do eventually trickle down to support other causes.

Hey! I want putain…afterall I’m from Amsterdam.

Mr. Tibbs, you are one funny guy.

Unrelated, has anyone else seen this great bumper sticker?:

“God is great, it’s just his fan club I can’t stand”

That is excellent. Where can I get one?

Very interesting. I guess I feel a little better knowing my money’s going to a nice guy. I’d always had this image of some uptight fat guy sitting behind a big desk laughing at us while he raked in thousands and thousands of dollars. Now I now it’s just a nice, skinny guy, raking in thousands and thousands of dollars.

you mean your bible doesn’t contain the following gems?
Paul’s Letter to the RD (asking for a refund)
The Parable of the Clincher
the highly moving “Psalm of the Wetsuit”

King Bunnyman gets 17 verses in the Book of Kings. Say NO to integrated frankincense!

I claim a$$h01e. At $.05 usage fees, everyone in Boston will have to pay me $5.00 per week.

I’ll be rich in a jiffy!

Not sure about where to get the sticker, I just saw it on some passing car while visiting the far-off US state of Florida…

Try gooooooogle?

Yeah, I hear Jesus was an Ironman, but Moses was DQ’d for parting the Red Sea.

I must have missed those…it does contain Elijah outrunning a horse!

…it’s just his fan club I can’t stand, LOL, and wish it weren’t so.

Now that I recall, the sticker was: “I’ve Got Nothing Against God, Its His Fan Club I Can’t Stand.”

I am pretty sure it’s available online…

Along the same lines, I saw this bumper sticker the other day:

“Jesus loves you, but everyone else things you’re an @$$hole”.

HA!

This reminds me of a line from “Life of Brian” where Brian was trying to convince someone he was Jewish…he said, “…I was a Red Sea pedestrian!”

Ironman and Christianity? Maybe the Eastern religions promoting spiritual mind over matter would make more sense. However, if you've read "The Da Vince Code" Ironman and Christianity may have something in common. If you look at DaVince's "Last Super" you will notice the femanime looking desiciple left of Jesus (supposedly "John) who is leaning away. DaVince evidently was pulling one of his pranks based on his opinion that Jesus was indeed married to this person Mary Magdalene (John). Mary, or "John" is leaning away from Jesus causing the two of them to form the letter " M ", as in Magdalene. Or, "M-dot"? So, the only thing symbolically connecting Christianity and Ironman is the folklore " M " ?
