Ironman and intensity factor. IF

Anyone ride only using IF on bike computer as major gauge? No power numbers or power Zones? Prepping for IM been keeping power zone low 3’s. Wondering if following IF would be any different?

IF is just NP/FTP, so assuming your FTP is set correctly it would be an equivalent measurement.

I’m not sure how quickly IF is calculated or if the Garmin can read a 10s average IF, but assuming it doesn’t, you’re probably better off with 3s avg, lap NP (5 miles per lap) and total ride NP.

That way you can tell where you’ve been, where you are and where you’re going (i.e. not pushing too hard up the hills/surges).
