Ironman 70.3 Miami Vs Half Rev3 Florida

Hi,

There is a two week difference between both of them. Ironman is at the end of October and Rev is on Nov 10th.
Rev3 is cheaper ($50).
As it going to be my first 70.3 will these two weeks make the difference regarding training?

Any pros\cons for these events are welcome…

Well 2wks will buy you some more time for a proper taper if things arent going right. There is also Miami Man 70.3 which I am doing. It will also be my first HIM

Depends a little bit what you want out of it. Miami 70.3 will almost certainly be the most competitive, as its a WTC race, with WC slots up for grabs, etc.

I haven’t raced either of these, but in general, I greatly prefer Rev3 events over WTC events.

Miami Man I have done… its pretty cool, no big complaints. Bike is a little boring, but the run is fun enough. Not sure about where Rev3 FL is held to be able to comment on it’s course.

Miami70.3 was my first HIM last year. It was a great race. The swim is beautful in the intercoastal, bike is straight out and back all flat and the run is very scenic, you do have to cross a bridge over and back 2 times.

I have done two other HIMs since and this is by far the best run and most enjoyable, I plan on doing it again in October.

Reviving this thread…

I just signed up for Rev3 Florida and was looking for hotels. I notice there are several on the beaches just north.

I’d like to stay on the Beach, does anyone have any suggestions?

Bump for the morning crowd, maybe someone could suggest a place.

The Rev3 Host Hotel is the Ramada, about three miles away. Not quite on the beach, but pretty easy to deal with.

The two on the beach that seem to be coming up are Inn at the Beach and Venice Beach Villas.

See you there!

Thanks, will probably see you there.

I stayed at the Hampton in Venice last year and I will again this year. Very close to the venue, but not on the beach. You might have some luck on VRBO.com.

Thanks
