Now that Sprint has the iPhone, I’ll probably make the switch from a Blackberry. I would like an armband/case and noticed this at Amazon -

I have a Otterbox Defender for the Blackberry, but I’d like to try to replace my iPod shuffle while running and an armband seems like the to way to go. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Buying an Iphone 4s…what a waste of money.

Well reasoned, insightful, helpful, and articulate… the internets salute you sir (or ma’am)
to the OP:
I have never had good luck with an arm band and my iPhone (1G and 4G) or full sized iPod (several) either they end up sliding down my arm or my hand goes numb if its tight enough not to slide… I have tried multiple brands and always end up with my nano clipped to my shorts… I understand the impulse you are having and have had it my self but thus far, unsuccessfully
as always however YMMV
I have a sportband from Marware. www.marware.com It’s worked fine for me on long bike rides-- the band feels secure on my arm and the phone stays securely clipped. The only thing I recommend is to safety pin down the strap end so that you don’t accidently undo the velcro.
I’ll second the suggestion of the Marware armband. My wife has the Marware armband for the 3GS and loves it. It is a hard case for the phone with a clip. The clip locks it into the arm band and it doesn’t budge. At the same time, it is easy to remove it from your arm without taking the entire band off. We just ordered the one for the 4S as we are upgrading phones. Here is the link to the 4S one: http://www.amazon.com/Marware-SportShell-Convertible-iPhone-Black/dp/B003SNIV70/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1318192094&sr=1-1-catcorr
I have the M-dot branded one for my 4 (I think it’s made by Yurbuds).
It’s terrible. Absolutely awful.
I’ve tried to workout with my iPhone for years. None of the bands worked ok. They are heavy bulky chafing, etc.
probably the best thatnhave worked was a belt around the waste with a pocket but hated that too.
Then I went and got myself a nano instead of another band and love it. Will never carry my iPhone again during runs. Plus if my Nano get sweat on it or break I won’t care as much.
Nano is awesome but no Pandora, Songza or other internet music service. Plus no phone for incoming calls which is important to those work on the run types and of course for the rare emergency or injury.
I actually use that band and it works. Doesn’t protect against rain or heavy sweat so u have to be careful with it. There’s some great apps available for tracking workouts and routes. I use endomondo myself for both cycling and running.
