And the other super conservative folks around here…
About you follow Big Kahuna in his ‘wait a 100 days of Obama’ before starting making comments?
That way, you either avoid looking like idiots when the results are here, and if they aren’t, things are worse, you have tangible things to argue about, rather than making comments about what may potentially happen?
At least, with Bush, us, the bleeding heart liberals, the tree huggers, we have 8 years of solid data to make a case…
It is constructive criticism that is allowed…A lot of folks here are already bashing Obama when there are no results yet. He hasn’t been in office for a week…
He already did a lot of damage in one week. There is always a push to start out fast to look like you are doing something. Maybe it would be better is they did nothing for the first 100 days.

What?..and miss the (Rahm Emmanuel described) “opportunity” of this crisis?
Waiting 100 days would be a brilliant move for the Republicans. It will give Obama time to make some mistakes and the Republicans the high ground to say “Hey look we are giving him a chance.” After the 100 days when the criticizing starts just keep it factual and down to Earth.
This will not happen because politics are about feelings not accomplishments. Humans see other humans who wait and think out their moves as weak. The best way to get people to like you is to do something even if it’s the wrong thing. Results don’t matter.

I could not agree more. If everyone was a little more analytical, rational and patient, the world would be a better place. In politics, the workplace, at home, everywhere.
No offense, but that’s the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard. In short you’re asking people to simply allow ANY legislation to go by without comment for 100 days.
If Obama comes along and wants to raise taxes to 100%, just keep your yapper shut until 100 days go by and THEN complain. If Obama wants to pass a law that doesn’t allow political discussion on the radio…keep your yapper shut and wait until AFTER he passes it. Just let the damage be done, try to clean up afterwards.
I’m not saying that any of these things will happen or even that he wants to pass anything like them. But for ANYONE to sit around and do nothing or not discuss what they believe to be piss poor policy is not only stupid, but it’s out and out dangerous.
At least, with Bush, us, the bleeding heart liberals, the tree huggers, we have 8 years of solid data to make a case.
Also no offense but Bush was defintely not given 100 days of “Free reign” without comment. I’d go so far as to say it’s a scary thing to even suggest doing so.
My point is simply that it would make a LOT of sense to wait at least a few weeks before criticizing everything Obama does, without any real view of the big picture, of a trend.
This will not happen because politics are about feelings not accomplishments.
If a mind is changed thru discussion and pressure is brought forth to bear on an impending policy that would harm the nation, that policy is then dumped due to that policy, is that not an accomplishment?
I mostly agree that in 99.99% of the cases it’s all emotional BS, but our only power as citizens is putting pressure on our elected officials. The best way to create that pressure is thru discussion as we have here.
Waiting 100 days and simply allowing a “Pass” on every piece of legislation is a disaster waiting to happen. Legislation needs to be faced by pressure and by overcoming that pressure only the “Better” legislation passes while at least some of the “Crap” gets weeded out.
I now it mostly doesn’t work this way, but for the most part it’s only thing we have.
I think there is a big difference between criticizing everything BHO does and challenging policy he’s putting forth are two different things.
But so far there have been some really big things that need to be challenged. 600 million for health care as part of the stimulus package without much knowledge of what the plans are for that? That’s a biggy and needs to be discussed. How is the other half of the 700 billion dollar “Bailout package” going to be spent. That’s going to happen before 100 days and needs to be CLEARLY laid out prior to being spent UNLIKE the first 350 billion.
I think the appointment to the secretary to the department of defense is open as well.
**without any real view of the big picture, of a trend. **
Why does one need to wait for the “Trend” or big picture to realize an individual piece of legislation is a bad piece of legislation?
To ask that these things not be discussed or criticized is asking that they simply be accepted and “Wait for the effects” of them being implemented. By the time one sees the “Big picture” it could very well be that the amount of damage done could be overwhelming.
It’s much easier to stop the rock from falling into the pond than it is to stop the ripples on the lake.
My point is simply that it would make a LOT of sense to wait at least a few weeks before criticizing everything Obama does, without any real view of the big picture, of a trend.
And you can’t hear ideas…
When the decisions or actions that he takes now are consistent with those that he’s taken all of his adult life, what you have is continuation of a well established *trend. *The fact that he’s in a new job, doesn’t change that.
As an analogy…If you were looking at a set of data points from a study that spanned many years, do you discount a continuation in the data points in January, simply because it’s the beginning of the new year and you don’t yet have enough information in the current year to tell if the trend is likely to continue? Of course not. In fact, if the long-term trend were to change, that would be the time to wait to see whether the change was going to last. Thus far, we haven’t seen any change in the long-term trend though.
I sure hope we do at some point, but I’m not gonna hold my breath!
It is constructive criticism that is allowed…A lot of folks here are already bashing Obama when there are no results yet. He hasn’t been in office for a week…
I think the honeymoon ended at his inaugural. His pick for Sec. of Treasury was bad. You can’t have tax cheats in your administration and expect people to believe you are for change. He should have tossed Geithner’s sorry butt out the door. Instead he moves forward with him? How’s that better then what GW would have done?
To go on with your analogy…yes, I see the data differently…because the data pertaining to the weather in only one state will not give me a trend of the overall weather for the entire country…
I agree 100% that there is a “possibility” that the data may change. I doubt 100% the person has very much so I also tend to believe the “Trend” will remain somewhat similar.
That being said I still see no reason to “Wait for a trend” when there is an obvious anomaly.
