Interesting. USA Swimming has a ban on kinesio tape because they believe it to be “performance enhancing.” Seems like the rule has been in place for a couple years, but someone just sent it to me.
Well, they have a history of not liking tape. The deal is that you can tape your suit shut so that water doesn’t get into it. Folks used to do that with duct tape until swimming outlawed it. I suppose they also didn’t want to open that can of worms again.
been seeing tons of the stuff here in NC at the races…i used it for my Achilles for day to day use recommended by my units PA…seemed to help…lots of Kinesio Tape and Compression Sleeves/Socks even at Sprints…such a trendy sport…its like people think they get instant street credit for showing up with either of the two
.
Hey Rapp will this stuff hold my clavicle in place?
If I remember correctly when started kinesio was looking for reps on ST. Damn…think I missed the boat :0(
Well, when it says “performance enhancing” on the label, it’s not allowed according to USA swimming. Regular athletic tape is okay, but not kinesio tape. I haven’t seen it used at too many of the meets I’ve worked at. (Been a USA swimming official for about 8 years now.)
I did have a swimmer come up to the admin tent at the last meet I worked to ask about it. It’s about having a level playing field, especially at the age group level (in swimming ages 5-18).
No, no, it won’t. I tried last year. Turns out titanium nails work better.
:0)
Can’t wait till Eagleman this year it is going to look like return of the AG Mummies. lol
