So I strained a section of my intercostal muscles earlier this month and I still can’t bike or swim, though slow jogging is fine. Anyone have any magic tips to make it heal faster, other than the Aleve, heat, and rest that I’ve been doing? This has got to be the most painful and annoying injury I’ve ever experienced. Thanks!
Gentle massage with your fingers as much as you can stand. I tore an intercostal a few years ago and it was one of the worst injuries I have ever dealt with.
It sucks and definitely takes time, but I recommend going to get ART and some work on it. I fell on the bike and then had some pain flare up a few days after the fall during a swim workout. It took (still hurts sometime) time, but I found ART to help the most.
Yeah ART helped me too after it was on the mend. And Graston. I think I had a steroid iontophoresis. they hook up electrodes and then apply a steroid patch and the electrical current pulls the steroid through the muscle).
The steroid they used is not banned.
